Other teams planes fall out of the sky
We lean more on B Rob and our defense learns to tackle and get pressure.
that next question he says that the DL and the LBs need to watch film together more and work on rushing lanes. That whole interview he was very open with how he feels and he definitely comes across frustrated we had to lose to get people to realize he may be right.
Love watching these every week, can't embed the video but its Week 5 Alabama in the NFL highlights.
on 1/28 I asked a question and got an answer. Seems like i'd get a different answer these days.
I don’t think you’d get a different answer at all
We obviously had some issues with red zone play calling, but after cooling down, O’Brien is pretty far down the reasons we lost Saturday night.
I agree with this, sure I think it’s bs we threw 3 straight times at the goal line, but that didn’t cost us the game.
I think the defense was a bigger contributing factor to the loss than the offense, but I still think BoB really hurt us , and that isn't just limited to the 3 straight passes on the 4.
I think it's a little too early to pull up these receipts.
I dunno. I think the playcalling is pretty high up on the list. Obviously the defense and drops probably are 1a and 1b, but those calls on the goal line could have been the difference in the game if handled properly.
well one of them would have been a touchdown if Latu doesn't drop one wide open.
I’m not ready to write BOB off by any means but 10 plays inside the 10 yard line and 8 passes in a game where the defense was dying on the field and Robinson was running like a psychopath really upsets me
If any one of the ridiculous events that caused us to lose go differently we likely would’ve won. It was the perfect storm of bullshit
As bad as the 3 passes in the redzone, the playcalling when they were bringing the house was, etc, 8 dropped passes (including two to your sure handed tight ends, one for a TD, another for a 3rd down conversion which likely leads us to a Reichard FG for a win at worst) and two spots on the OL turnstiling all night were bigger offensive issues.
Defensively, you don't even have to make an argument. Just bring up their point totals against Colorado, State and Arkansas and it tells the story of Saturday itself.
I think BOB got spooked early with running at the goalline. Before Bryce's goalline interception we were stuffed twice running it. Then on an obvious passing down Bryce made that bad decision. I think that kind of stuck in O'Brien's mind more than it probably should have and that's why he was so quick to pass on early downs in the second half.
I hate the inconsistencies in coordinators play calling. Golding and BoB were great against Ole Miss. Both sucked against A&M. BoB gave BRob like 35 carries against Ole Miss. Then wouldn't give him carries when we needed it the most against A&M. Also I said this before, but forget about the drops, BoB was still asking Bryce to make ridiculous 30-40 yard passes into pin point windows when they were putting crazy pressure on us. He also refused to dial up quick slants, screens, and draws when they were blitzing and pressuring us.
i only quoted mine for a reason. not trying to hold anyone to anything. catching up from the weekend's posts, the aftermath ITT looked pretty anti-bob but it seems distance from saturday night has softened things.
and fwiw i think he's doing *fine* - he doesn't trust the o-line in short yardage situations and it's hard to blame him. I can't remember another Saban line that got beat this routinely. it's maddening to watch owens lunge at a DE in pass pro and miss. doing your sets and letting them come to you is basic shit you shouldn't struggle with that this level.
Had more to do with Saban’s in-game management than it did with offensive playcalling IMO. Leave TOs on the board before half (how bad was his explanation to Jaime Erdahl at half??) and then 6 points in two redzone scenarios where you decide to kick instead of trusting your offense and taking the higher EPA option. Pretty inexcusable.
sounds like some shit a nerd behind a computer would say
After cooling off, I also thought back to Mac and Bryce helping BoB learn our playbook. He's running the offense Lane/Daboll created for Saban and is obviously still calling plays like he's in the league at times (3 passes from the 3 isn't unheard of, the most egregious part was the fucking screen to Metchie on 1st down... just the worst). If it becomes a trend I'll be worried, but overall he's been fine, though certainly not Sarkisian. Regardless, we won't miss the playoffs because of him, it'll be because of Pete and our lack of threats at receiver. I personally still think we have a very good chance to.
Funny that Saban made fun of computer nerds earlier in the week then made those shitty decisions.
To me Owens at right tackle is the most baffling personnel decision on the roster. Latham and Brockermeyer must be lightyears behind if they can't beat Owens out. He is the worst tackle we have had in recent memory.
He’s real bad, I can’t believe we don’t have someone pushing him for playing time.
Yup - have to go back to Dominick Jackson in 2015 to find a worse tackle
He actually wasn't as bad at blocking as he was at not false starting. Owens is bad at both.
I seem to remember him having a Chris Capps-esque performance in the natty, maybe Im over exaggerating but that one really stuck with me
Bumping the center out to tackle probably should have been a huge red flag in retrospect. You recruit different bodies for the interior and tackle positions.
Of course, Freshman All-American Barrett Jones is the exception to that rule.
Owens makes Jackson look like Andre Smith.
This . Jackson had a Chris Capps esque performance in the natty. He literally got beat on every play. It was sooooooo bad.
where can i get some of those shirts.
Ill never forget his last play. ‘99 LSU goal line stand. I was there and it was great.
He linked them in the tweet
Was there, too. Way before we ever had nice things
Dude is huge. Think he can play DE or Sam?
Elias Ricks now out for the rest of the season.
things at LSU are about to get ugly
NFL playcalling. Saw Daboll shove it down Hurts' throat too. BOB will be fine in the next few games but I'm worried he'll fuck up SECC/Playoffs against stiff competition.
Lest we forget that Sark forgot we had running backs not named Bo Scarborough in the national championship game.
I'd probably listen to that man if I was one of the guys being called out.
Put that thing in a club Patrick Willis style
Constant sacrificed his life during that play.
