Wasn’t too far off
Mac through 4 games....
It’s amazing how quick this game turned. Waddle 90 yards to take the lead with 4 minutes left in the 3rd. Devonta scores to make it 41-24 with 9 minutes to go in the 4th.
.........are you serious?
Averaging 29 pass attempts per game is just about perfect balance from Sark.
Turns out, Mac is fucking awesome
P sure he’s talking about Nick
I said the same thing. More than just his presence; I think what it did was probably allow guys to play in their most comfortable and repped positions. When you’re young in a defense coached by this numb nut, I would say comfort in your position can let your mind rest and let instinct take over which can help you tackle better.
Did Tim Smith play a lot in the second half? Have seen it mentioned elsewhere. Can't believe I didn't notice if he did
Him and Burroughs both.
And both picks were fluky.
He’s dialed in.
Saban said in the post game that the pick tonight wasn’t his fault and smitty was wide open, he just happened to get hit as he threw.
Scuttlebutt was that NFL scouts were paying particular attention to the Georgia game in regards to his NFL prospects. Wouldn’t be surprised to start hearing some official buzz from draftniks.
Man that 4th quarter flew by
that was really good for my heart considering chelsea played this morning, the Gameday piece on Braxton, the Braves game, and the 1st half.
Ok now can really enjoy reading the game thread
Just to compare, Trevor Lawrence’s numbers (against weaker competition)
Through 5 games
Beating the #3 team in the country by 16 points is no small thing
And factor in
Were the first three games.
Beating them by 17 is even bigger.
Just to remind clown baby.
Whose side are you on?
I'd rather have Hellams out there than Wright. Hellams tackles well. He may be a liability in coverage but that may be possible to fix. Wright can't cover and he can't tackle
Resume is looking real nice. Probably going to have two Top 10 wins come tomorrow.
Good. UK might prove to be the best team on our resume the rest of the way. Not sure any end up top 25.
We fucked with them.
Saban really likes beating Kirby and UGA
Damn....with the Ray's beating Houston, L.A. gonna get all the breaks tomorrow. No way MLB wants a Braves vs Ray's finals.
Dan wolken is going to love this.
Do we see this defense as maybe being able to force some big turnovers going forward or do we chalk it up to the hobbit walk-on last night?
I want to believe but....
They are still gonna get crushed by fast paced spread offenses with competent QBs
Clemson would score 40+ fairly easily...we will have to beat them in a shootout
Etienne would run for 200+
What is going on with Moses? Can someone try to offer a serious explanation. When he was playing well earlier in his career someone else was telling him where to line up and now that he has to align the defense he just doesn't have it between the ears?
It's unfair how shitty the ACC is and who Clemson has to beat.
In the eight games Mac has started in his career, four of which were against top 15 teams, he has completed 160/213 passes (75.1%) for 2,690 yards, 25 touchdowns, and four interceptions. That’s an average of 336 yards, >3 TDs, 0.5 interceptions.
And he went from scout team qb to starter in a blink of an eye, plus no springs ball this year.
I feel pretty confident we can beat UGA again if they still start Bennett.
I agree but that's not what I'm asking. What I mean is do we think they can come up with a big turnover or two in those matches. Because that's what it will take for us to win those massive shoot outs; give our offense an extra possession.
It looks to me like he’s slow to make decisions or recognize where he’s supposed to be, sometimes makes the wrong ones, and even when he does make the right decision, he has lost a step.
Let's say we're playing Clemson: Golding hasn't shown the willingness to bring high pressure packages on 3rd down. Even if he did I don't think Lawrence would get that rattled. I think it's pretty doubtful he throws up gift INTs like Bennett did last night. By the way, Etienne in the open field v our linebackers and safeties is terrifying
I thought our defense last night looked about like they did against Missouri and A&M. Our defense in those 3 games looked halfway competent but not world beaters. It's when you start playing hurry up spread offenses with competent QBs that the wheels just come all the way off the tracks.
We would need two minimum and a lucky break here or there I think
I do think the defense could continue to get better at fundamentals like tackling , allignment, contain the edge etc. I think they'll get slightly better at that over the course of the season.
If Bill Anderson could figure out how to actually tackle someonein the backfield after blowing past his blocker he'd be terror off the edge.
I want to say the open field tackling was slightly better last night but , thankfully for us, their offense isn't focused on getting the ball to guys in space and letting them run. There weren't a whole lot of screen passes or short throws where a safety or linebacker had to make an open field tackle.
I think our defense did a better job against the run than I was expecting. They were averaging 5 ypc pretty late in the game and did bust a few long runs but I was worried we'd be a siv and they'd have several long runs for TDs and that never happened.
Bringing pressure was the key though. Bennet made mistakes when he was pressured.
If I were to tell you before the game that Nick Saban would test positive in the middle of the week and that we'd go into halftime down 4 points with them getting the ball back you would not tell me that we'd win.
