Who is Scotty Burrell, and why is it Slade Bolden?
This may be wishful thinking, but I’d like to believe Golding was fired at halftime.
2nd half adjustments were huge last night. How big of an impact was having Saban back?
I'm just glad he was getting fired up on the sideline last night. Hope Pete finally got that reeming at halftime
Kirby said we were more physical than them on the line of scrimmage. That surprised me a bit that we were able to out physical them.
Our OL is the best in the country. They were able to really give Mac good protection against that vicious pass rush. Especially in the 2nd half.
Gotta give some love to Foristall for the toughness he showed. We have obvious alpha on the offense, but everyone brings that dog mentality it seems. Love that
OL is so freaking good. Love watching Dickerson maul people.
Dickerson is the biggest goon we've had since...?
Auburn loses to South Carolina, a team they haven’t lost to since 1933. Their QB and WRs are fighting in the sideline. Meanwhile we beat UGA soundly who just crushed Auburn. You just hate to see it for the boogs.
I’m glad the Mac doubters are finally coming around.
Mac QB rating at 220.10 now. 12 pts higher than 2nd place.
Updated Kirby Smart-Mark Richt comparison:
Smart after 60 games: 47-13
Richt after 60 games: 49-11
that had to be when Christian went out wide to cover the RB. Goodness thats when you have to use one of those 1H timeouts.
In fairness to bowl cut. Richt was really good those first few years. If he’d have kept that up, he’d still be there.
The JUCO PF announces today doesn’t he?
At what point can we start talking about Mac being better than Tua?
*runs and hides*
In terms of running this offense, I said as much last week.
I texted my dad this morning that I think he will end up being a better college QB than Tua.
I want to wait and see how he does in another big game against another competent QB
I get what you're saying, but QB's don't play other QB's. Mac just fucked up one of the best, if not the best defense in the country, and that's after throttling down to start the 4th. We could have easily hung 50 if we kept our foot on the gas
So the UGA rematch after they bench Bennett? Or the natty against Clemson?
I think he’s more gearing that comment twords Mac handling the pressure of a QB that can keep the game close
So if Tim Smith and Burroughs got burn last night I think that will all but seal the deal on Ish Sophser transferring
I mean, I know Corral had a meltdown yesterday but he played like Aaron Rodgers against us and Mac was perfect.
Obviously QBs don’t play other QBs, but a knock on Tua was that he was a front runner and tended to wilt in big games. I just want to wait and see how Mac does in another big game when an inexperienced 5’11 QB doesn’t melt down against our lol defense
Ole miss game was p close
I don't think it's an intelligence issue as he apparently knows the playbook for every defensive position, I honestly just think he doesn't have that it factor a true Mike backer needs. Moses is probably as good of an athlete we have had at the position, but it goes to show how special guys like Ro/SDH/CJ etc. were. They could QB the defense and still play full speed when the ball was snapped, where Moses I believe may be struggling to adjust to. I think he is 100% a Will at the next level.
And, of course, his position coach is also an issue. Can't leave that out.
I can't believe I'm saying this because one of Tua's best qualities was touch on the deep ball, but Mac throws it better. He also doesn't force much, or go for the near impossible either.
Mac makes really quick decisions and I honestly think that's a product of being able to read defenses better than Tua.
Burroughs looked decent.
I get that and Corral is good but ole miss isn’t the kind of team I’m talking about. I’m speaking more against a team that is good with a good qb.
This is what I’m getting at, too. If Bennett was halfway decent, last night would’ve been a different story
As bad as we may be defensively, our offense being able to put up that amount of yardage/points against that UGA defense gives me confidence we can at least play with anybody. I wasn't sure we could just drop 30+ on a D like that without some defensive help, but we could have damn near dropped 50+. Some perspective needs to be had on how impressive it was to actually have that much success against that D. It isn't 2016/2011 Bama level, but it is close to some of our other great Saban ones in this modern offensive age. They will not see another one as talented or good as that for the rest of the season, inclusing Clemson and OSU.
If Moses and a couple others can magically hit their stride, I'll start to shift back to expecting a ship rather than hoping for one.
Not to mention the ridiculous drops his WR had. They scored a TD at one point that they should’ve scored twice before but guys couldn’t catch. Plus, Kirby is a fucking pussy. I think Mac has a huge cock and I’m converted but He was a bit shaky early in that game. If he can really hang with a qb who’s dealing while carving up a competent defense his damn self then he’s got the biggest dick alive
I remember Mac posting a picture of himself on twitter when he got here alongside Brady's draft one. I mocked it at the time, but it was an apt comparison it turns out (not saying he is anywhere near that level, their strengths are just similar). He isn't the most athletic, nor does he have the best arm, but he is very accurate with a huge football IQ and has that it factor successful QB's typically do.
He isn't as talented as Tua, but he may end up having a better year or two than he did in college and maybe even one day will be the better NFL QB as insane as that is to say.
Bryce will still be better than both, though.
Spider man meme
Why? Braves have a huge fanbase. You're not the Brewers.
Fair point and completely agree. If mac can go toe to toe with Lawrence/Fields when he knows the D is going to get abused and still drop 40-50, then he deserves to be a first round, potential top 10 draft pick
Anyway, the original question was are we ready to say that Mac is better than Tua and my answer is, wait because idk. Thanks for listening
When did Burroughs and Tim Smith come in?
Nobody left on our regular season schedule who can beat us. Auburn’s not even good enough to do their Auburn shit this year.
Gonna come down to Clemson/OSU/UGA rematch/UF.
Not even too worried about whoever the potential 4th playoff team would be. Unless it’s UGA who we’ve split with or beaten twice already. That would kinda suck.
Also, I think it's important to note how dissassociative our offense seems to be with our D. They don't come out sloppy or frustrated after big drives by the opposing team or the defense pulling another... defense. They seem dialed in and ready to carry the game on that side of the ball.
That being said, our D stepping up and getting big turnovers like it did a couple times last night will be huge when a Lawrence/Fields are on the opposing sideline for their confidence. We made good adjustments in the second half that give some hope we can at least try to be a playmaking/break D, but the offense also controlled the fuck out of the ball in the second half which made them look much better. I do believe that they will believe enough in themselves to match anybody until the clock hits 0, though.
Worried about Hellams if he’s the future at safety, he looked slow AF last night. Good tackler, but woof at coverage
Yeah. He was notably late on a few of their big down the field completions in the first half. Battle didn't pop off the screen but there was a noticeable difference with him being back in.
