Honestly, college production only, Julio is nowhere near the top because he didn’t have good QBs. Probably would be Cooper, Ridley, Jeudy, Julio.
Julio’s college numbers are fairly pedestrian in this day and age but that’s because his quarterback was average at best and we ran the ball more. No arguments with your NFL list. Coop far and away is the best WR at Bama as a college player and to be honest in my opinion Devonta Smith is 2nd. Jeudy, Ridley, and Julio are 3A, 3B, and 3C with Ruggs and Waddle following.
I think my biggest question was Ridley vs Cooper as college players, because, I don't remember Ridley much (didn't watch Alabama as much his Sr season), but watched a lot of and definitely remember how amazing Cooper was.
Smitty has the greatest catch in Alabama Football history and is the ultimate competitor. If we win a natty this season it will be largely due to him and Mac and the defense awakening from its slumber. Smitty has also benefited from being one of three elite WRs each year he’s been here. Coop was just about all we had in 2012-2014. Sprinkle in some CJones, Bob Foster, Kenny Bell, etc sure, but everyone knew the ball was going Coop’s way and they couldn’t do a thing about it. He’s still 1 for me. Shank away.
To add, I also think Julio was THAT good in college. I watched him a shit load. It was blatantly obvious how good he was despite the offense he played in. Best example that comes to mind first, is his long TD in the SECCG against Florida -- he literally looked like prime TO that play. I think I'd still have him #1, even with his bad overall numbers, but y'all watch much closer than I do.
Ridley also had Jalen as his QB at one point and benefits greatly from having another elite receiver taking attention away from him.
Ridley was really really good. It won’t show up in that 2015 CFPF box score, but one of the reasons OJ caught for over 200 yards was because Ridley was forcing double teams and help over the top.
Smitty still has the best hands I’ve ever seen. Ridley is probably next. Coop and Julio would have these weird drops but could also make the ridiculous plays looks easy.
Fwiw, I think Ridley this season is better than any of Amari's. Ridley looks incredible this season, like a top 5 NFL WR.
So jealous of your WRs. Weve had zero NFL quality receivers come through Oregon since the beginning of the Chip Kelly era in 2007.
It was always hard comparing Ridley because he was like 23 his senior year. I think deep down I expected more from him knowing that. Yes, his game is perfect for the NFL. Tiffin isn’t wrong either. Stardarius had better hands. It just felt like if you could throw the ball in a 4 foot window, he would contort his body and catch it.
I feel like I’m living in cloud cuckoo land talking about Aradrius having better hands. He bobbled and dropped half the passes thrown his way.
You must be. Over their last 2 years, Ardarius had 117 catches and Ridley had 135. Stewart wasn't as physically gifted and fought for a lot of balls. Stewart fought harder for balls than anyone under Saban not named Smitty.
Think people are conflating his acrobatic high difficulty catches with consistently catching the ball. He made some insane snags but also dropped a lot
Yeah, this was exactly how I remembered it. Would get frustrated with him dropping wide open balls a lot.
The fact we can argue over which guys are the best among that ridiculous plethora of talent we’ve had at WR since 2008 is just wild. So many great receivers when it felt like we had gone years without one that was elite.
We have 7 sacks on the season. We're 81st out 98 teams in sacks per game. Among the teams behind us 5 of them have only played 1 game so technically we're around 86th or 87th in the country. Unacceptable
He can be a bench player after football season but that’s about it. I doubt we see him play much more than that. He needs to focus on football that’s where his future is.
