See you’re just pulling stuff out of your ass, similar to saying I said Trent was our #1 RB under Saban

I can’t help but think some of them were just recruiting misses, which is why Tim Smith and Burroughs are seeing more time.

I saw him make one good play when he was in this year and that’s about it. I do think it would at least be nice to have him for depth.

He had the hype of Jonathan Allen, but never played anywhere close.

Well in general that 2018 class is really biting us in the ass on D. That may be Saban's worst class overall. Seems like we got nothing out of 2/3 of that class

Doesn’t seem like they are being developed as well as they could be. The athleticism is there. You see guys like Egoibe, Barmore etc get off blocks and make plays in the backfield. But they also get blown off the ball at times.

I think our overall scheme and lack of aggressive playcalling makes the DL look worse than it is.

Out of the 21 kids we signed out of that 2018 class, only about 6 have made any meaningful contribution at all 3 years into the program (Surtain, Waddle, Ekiyor, Bolden, Barmore, Jobe). Wow.

Yes. These are dudes from that class that were busts or just never gave us much at all:

    Anoma
    Wynn
    Latu
Armour-Davis (he may be able to do a little next year but damn)
Tommy Brown (he could be in the mix next year too but not expecting a lot)
    Kaho
    DeLong
    Saivion Smith
    Michael Parker
    Musika
    Moody
    Layne Hatcher
    Jordan Davis
    Eddie Smith
    Jerome Ford

    holy fuck

    Wynn - nothing
    Armour-Davis - injuries
    Kaho - nothing
    Barmore - up/down/all around
    Savion - gross
    E. Smith - nothing
    Musika - depth signing
    Moody - depth signing

No. I don’t think Saban can sit back and watch us potentially lose games because of terrible defense for two years. They’ve been better the last game and a half but we will see if it holds.

Pretty much. We don't have a package made for a guy that took Tua off the field that's unathletic. He's apparently a guy that has had high hand timed 4.3xs/low 4.4xs, and he obviously has wiggle. Anything is a downgrade from Waddle but he will help us win games, not hinder us.

I really hope you're trying to pull a redemption arc that tops Mac here, because this is never going to be a popular opinion for a multitude of reasons. It's hard to believe how much Saban loves a guy that is failing to get play calls in on time, and has our defense completely misaligned what seems like half of the time (and has former players even roasting it/pointing it out on a weekly basis openly on social media). We looked better against UT, but still not the standard we should expect for the level of athleticism on the field and an Alabama defense.

Sadly I’m not, they say he’s got one of those brilliant football minds like Saban, and Belicheck. In his initial interview, Saban handed him a marker, and had him stand at the board, and gave him scenarios to which he rattled off every possible answer.

I don't doubt he's got a high football IQ, I just doubt we ride with him into the ground while waiting for him to transition that knowledge into gameday brilliance. Toss him an assistant DC title again and just drop Charles Kelly/bring in a guy proven to be a good gameday DC. He's clearly been thrown into the fire before he was ready if that's the case, and that is Saban's fault (both for deciding to do it and potentially taking 2 and a half seasons to fix it). Knowing he put him in a spot before he was ready would help explain why he is so patient with him thus far, though.

Tunmise Adeleye, 4-star SDE, Katy (Texas) Tompkins

Adeleye says he’s taking his recruitment to the Early Signing Period after de-committing from Ohio State in August. Alabama, Florida, and Texas A&M make up the last three teams standing. The Tide has been the leader in this recruitment in the past (Adeleye is currently saying he has no leaders), and has resident recruiter Jalen Milroe staying in Adeleye’s ear at home. “Chance to win a national championship,” Adeleye recently told BamaOnLine of what has UA in the mix. “I made a promise to myself that if I don’t win a state championship I’d give myself the opportunity to win a national championship, and Alabama is a place where I can do that.”

Brian Thomas Jr., 4-star WR, Walker (La.)

Thomas doesn’t have a decision timeline set, but has maintained he’d like to take visits to his top four of Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M before making a decision. With the Dead Period set in place through December, it’s not clear when or if that will end up happening, leaving the Tide and Tigers as the only two programs to have hosted Thomas for visits in the past. It’s been presumed to come down to the both Bama and LSU, and you could make a strong case for both to potentially wind up signing Thomas. You can’t discount the other two finalists considering he hasn’t been on campus. If Thomas takes his recruitment to January and can use official visits, it will be an interesting ride to track.

Shemar Turner, 4-star SDE, DeSoto (Texas)

Turner recently told BamaOnLine that he will make his decision at the Under Armour All-America Game in January. The Tide seemingly had some momentum in this recruitment in the spring and early summer, with Georgia, LSU, Texas, and Texas A&M making up the rest of Turner’s top group. The Lone Star State defensive lineman hopes to get out to a game in Tuscaloosa, as well as his other finalists this season, but obviously that’s easier said than done with COVID-19 affecting everything. “One, Nick Saban. Two, their D-linemen, they always have a pretty good D-line,” he said. “Their defense as a whole, they develop their guys really good. Their strength and conditioning coach is really good, too.”

Xavian Sorey, 4-star OLB, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Alabama, Florida, and Georgia are battling back and forth for the All-American linebacker, who said last week that a commitment is coming soon. That’s news considering all along Sorey has maintained he’s taking his recruitment the distance. Georgia has garnered buzz in this recruitment, but the 247Sports Crystal Ball still reads in favor of the Tide, at least for now. Sorey has long been a top target of Alabama’s, but recently said he felt the Bulldogs and Gators were recruiting him hardest. “They’re just straight business,” Sorey told BamaOnLine of the Tide. “You go there and do what you gotta do, you’re almost guaranteed to proceed to the next level. The history of Alabama football is crazy.” Of note, Sorey stopped in Gainesville this weekend for his own visit despite the Dead Period in place, something we’ve seen recruits do all over the country this cycle.

Terrion Arnold, 4-star S, Tallahassee (Fla.) John Paul II Catholic

Arnold will release a top five on Dec. 1, he announced on Monday. It would be a major surprise if Alabama, Florida, and Georgia are not represented on that list. The three programs are mentioned most often in the All-American DB's recruitment. Similar to new Alabama pledge Ga'Quincy McKinstry, Arnold also plans to play basketball on the next level, something UA has extended him an offer to do. Arnold has said a decision will come on National Signing Day, however, in his tweet on Monday he mentioned a commitment coming after his top five. Either way it doesn't appear as though we'll know where Arnold is going officially before December.
