This team competed well above their weight class. Nate is the man. We’re going to be a buzz saw next year
cmon back list: sears, nelson, griffen, wrightsell, sam, stevenson go on, get out list: wague, pringle, dioubate, cosby, parker we have two slots currently and four on the way in. gonna need to cut some guys to be able to bring in the transfers we need.
because he wasn't good enough to play at all. maybe he could contribute eventually, maybe he can't. but do you know who could? a super senior portal center and choices have to be made.
yeah, and if we was a good player now he wouldn't have redshirted. he may turn into a good player but i'd rather have someone who already is one.
You need to answer for this post. Why exactly was this team trash? And why were you trashing them when the game was still very competitive?
look, all i'll say is of the players i'd like to leave if there's room to keep parker i'd be ok with that. but at the end of the day there is a scholarship limit. of the 4 we are bringing in there's 1 center and 3 wings. we need to add another pg and another center. so 5 players need to leave for us to do that and that's my 5. i guess there's still one slot after that which could be parker, could also be dioubate, could also be mid major transfer or high school pg.
Baseball got crushed by Kentucky twice this weekend. Play again today at 11AM would be good not to get swept. Arkansas coming up next weekend in Tuscaloosa.
i would enjoy a school based streaming subscription. take my money and let me stream all bama sports. probably couldnt include football in that.
i wonder how long it takes for us to start seeing a good picture of what the roster will look like next year. looking forward to it.
bball portal open until 5/1. early draft entry deadline 4/27, withdrawal deadline 6/16. fball portal open 4/15-4/30. should be an interesting few weeks.
This is not as detailed as one of the other posts I saw, but here you go: As one would expect, both sides of the ball had good and bad moments. Overall, the offense got the best of the defense a few more times. Coaches are all very engaged and the energy from beginning to end was intense. The players, whether on the sidelines or on the field, were supporting one another loudly and often. I’ve been to other scrimmages under Saban and the energy was NOTHING like this. Before you read the drive stats below, you could tell the offense was working on short to intermediate passes today. No deep shots were taken and no “go” routes run. As we all are aware, this type passing game is not something Milroe excels at which the drive stats will show. Further, Milroe ran against the 1st Defense the entire day which, again, the drive stats will show. Milroe (1st Team) Drive 1: Completions / Attempts = 2-4 First Downs = 1 Result = Turnover on Downs Drive 2: Completions / Attempts = 2-3 First Downs = 5 Result = Touchdown Run by Haynes Drive 3: Completions / Attempts = 2-2 First Downs = 0 Result = Turnover on Downs Drive 4 (Red Zone): Completions / Attempts = 0-0 First Downs = 0 Result = Field Goal Drive 5 (Red Zone): Completions / Attempts = 1-1 First Downs = 0 Result = Touchdown Pass to Dippre Simpson (2nd Team) Drive 1: Completions / Attempts = 1-4 First Downs = 3 Result = Field Goal Drive 2 (Red Zone): Completions / Attempts = 2-4 First Downs = 0 Result = Touchdown Pass to Henderson Simpson (1st Team) Drive 3: Completions / Attempts = 2-2 First Downs = 0 Result = Touchdown Pass to Prentice Lonergan and Mack played mainly against the 3rd team with Lonergan getting a chance to play against the 2nd team a couple of times. Lonergan’s stats were 4 of 6 passing, moved the ball well, and had a great touchdown pass in the Red Zone on a jump ball to Caleb Odom. It is hard to explain how high Caleb can jump, but it isn’t fair. Mack was 3 of 7 on the day with a touchdown pass to Willoughby in the Red Zone. Milroe had a couple of nice runs including a touchdown that was called back for holding. He was also sacked twice. Simpson wasn’t sacked and also had a couple of nice runs. Lonergan was sacked once and Mack was sacked twice with neither leaving the pocket on runs. No interceptions were thrown on the day, but Milroe threw one right to a safety (can’t remember who it was) that undercut the pass. Easily should have been picked, but was dropped. Milroe also put another into traffic that the wide receiver had to turn into the defensive back to keep it from being tipped and possibly picked off. Simpson, Lonergan, and Mack didn’t put any passes into trouble. From a run game perspective, it was slow going. The defense filled their assigned gaps very well and no running back was able to break a long run. Miller ran for 8-10 yards a couple of times. DeBoer said after this scrimmage that the previous scrimmage had some big run plays, so it was good to see the defense improve on that. There were some VERY hard hits today. When the stadium is quiet it amplifies the noise and the defense was bringing it! The secondary played well except for a bust on the touchdown pass that Mack threw. Even on the touchdown passes from Simpson and Lonergan the defenders were in the pockets of the wide receivers. The throws were just that good especially the ones from Simpson. As I mentioned above, the offense was working on short to intermediate passes today. I don’t know if the secondary knew that or not. We are in very good hands with special teams. Burnip is turning into JK Scott in front of our eyes. He was practicing punting from the sidelines by kicking the ball into the stands. It was going WAY the hell up into the stands. As with the hits on defense being loud, it sounded like a shotgun when Burnip was practicing punting. Talty was perfect on the day and it appears he is solid from about 48 yards and in. He was 3-3 from 40 to 48 yards. He made all his other Red Zone field goals. It appears our first team kickoff returners will be Law and Miller. The second team returners were Henderson and Haynes. The first team punt returner will be Law with his backup being Prentice. As DeBoer said after the scrimmage, we have a ton of weapons to use at those positions. I would love to see Law back at both kickoff and punt returner when the season starts. He is too much of a weapon to not have on the field as much as possible. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to answer them. For those that were there as well, please feel free to add anything or make corrections.
Does it really matter with the size of our league now? They’ll end up hiring Beard or someone like that after a couple of better coaches get paid in the process.
