I can’t even imagine what lengths the shitheads in Fayetteville, Baton Rouge, and Gainesville have gone to try to get LeBron to portal
This guy appears to be one of the better players in the portal. Im guessing we gave Vaughn some bags with that extension

Auburn University head basketball coach Bruce Pearl would “like to serve his country,” according to U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.). Multiple outlets have reported that some GOP insiders are interested in a Pearl run for the Senate seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn). Tuberville is running for governor in 2026. Pearl hasn’t said whether he plans to run for Senate or stay at Auburn, but Burchett, a friend of Pearl’s, told "Alabama Unfiltered Radio" on Friday that Pearl wants to “get in the fight.”

Alabama is in the middle of a big recruiting weekend as the Crimson Tide host some of their top targets in the 2026 cycle. Word is it’s developing well with one of the program’s favorites at the point of attack. After talking to a source with knowledge of the recruitment I’ve moved my On3 RPM to Alabama for Orange (Calif.) Lutheran four-star offensive lineman Samuelu Utu. Utu is also high on Washington among others but the intel is favoring the SEC program. Alabama currently has five commits and On3’s No 10 ranked recruiting class. Utu is the On3 Industry’s No. 14 offensive lineman and No. 211 prospect overall. Other programs Utu has offers from include Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas A&M, Miami and Oregon.
Yes, I hope a journalist and huge corporate newspaper entity that lied about a college kid, and were told that it wasn’t true by the authorities before they published gets creamed. And Plaintiff has all kinds of dirt on them that isn’t in public realm. Total scum bags.
I'm fine with a libel suit. They fucked up, it happens, and they should be held accountable. But forcing journalists to expose sources destroys journalism as a whole. That's not a good thing.
how would you know if they even had a real source in the first place if you didn't require them to open it up? Couldn't they just lie?
There’s a distinct difference between keeping sources secure and safe by protecting them after a controversial story that’s truthful but damaging and fabricating a story to generate eyes, clicks, and therefore revenue and then hiding when the truth comes to light.
They admitted they were wrong and published a correction. I'm fine with a lawsuit, no need to disclose who the source was. The discourages all future sources.
It discourages people lying without a source. If you have a legitimate source with inside knowledge they would be right. There have to be checks for media as well. They have a lot of power and shouldn’t go unchecked.
It also discourages truthful sources if they believe they'll be disclosed in a trial. Again, a libel lawsuit without disclosing sources is fine.
anytime someone mentions a prospect i've never heard of i'll go to on3 to see what they're about. i get to the player page and look and the little info box to see expected position and it always says "FB" which is not the position at all but the sport. i've done this dozens of times yet without fail i think "why do we need a fullback" rather than just remembering i should be looking very slightly to the right of where i do. good stuff. 10/10. will do again, surely.
Bc someone wants to know who ratted them out. You seem to be a fan of authoritarianism so no point in derailing the thread further.
The guy bootlicking for the impunity of massive corporate media outlets to smear innocent citizens without recourse is accusing someone else of supporting authoritarianism?
I'm bootlocking for anonymous sources. I've said I'm fine with a libel lawsuit. There's a difference.
Team dblplay1212 on this one. Take them to the cleaners for libel and recoup every last dollar and cent you can in a civil case. But anonymous sources must be protected as one of the foundations of a free press. I won’t pretend to know what kind of overarching ramifications the source being identified would have, but that’s an incredibly slippery slope that could have significant implications elsewhere given the current climate.
Byron4Bama said: So we have 3 Quarterbacks from the 2026 class looking at Bama. Jett Thomalla, Matt Ponatoski and Jackson Fields. Andrew Bone said: I’d call it two- Thomalla/Ponatowski. Fields needs to work out in camp.
I’m fine with journalists having secret sources, but when you lie about someone, I have little sympathy for the press in litigation and the discovery process not uncovering who that source was and whether it was reasonable to rely on that source, which nobody can no when they don’t have to disclose. Press already has absurd protections from the consequences of their own stupidity because of NY Times v. Sullivan.
Occasionally they are going to get bad info. That's going to happen with a free press. You have to hold them accountable when that happens but that doesnt mean you have to burn down the entire process and discourage all future sources in the process.
When are we going to get a cascade of elite recruit commitment graphics from Hayes Fawcett? That's all anyone actually cares about.
This kid isn't a public official so I dont think malice is required in a libel lawsuit. This guy only has to show negligence. I'm not a lawyer though.
I was speaking on this case specifically. They dont need to show malice, just negligence, and they can do that bc the NYT has already admitted they fucked up. I just dont see the need to expose the source. You brought up Sullivan earlier and I don't see it being relevant here. Like I said, I'm not a lawyer so maybe I'm missing something.
