Haven't tried the wings, any good? I've ordered all the tacos and the steak platter, very average food. Tried Leon's for the first time last weekend. Fried Chicken was the fucking bomb
See you guys in Greenville and Charleston- https://m.charlestoncitypaper.com/E...-carolinas-gain-with-a-new-sour-beer-festival
Not sure. The same restaurant group closed one of their other restaurants, cypress, too. They said they have a new concept for the meat share location. That place was great though and only around a few years
Probably like 6-8 months ago or so I was reading about the state planning to crack down on the cured meats process and it was really going to hinder places like AMS. I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to get ahead of that
Y'all see the stuff about the dirty bomb at the wando port? Had some friends have to leave their boat at remleys last night because they couldn't get to hobcaw creek, fbi turned them around
Apparently there have been a number of people in mount pleasant having their water test positive for pesticides
http://counton2.com/2017/07/08/mount-pleasant-waterworks-responds-to-water-quality-concerns/ Interesting. There was talk of a "cancer cluster" in the Dunes West area a couple weeks ago. DHEC responded and said that the numbers were not abnormal. Makes me want to test my water though.
They didn't mean just in dunes west. I'm friends with the price family who are leading the charge to investigate it pretty much. After their son as diagnosed with a rare brain tumor a couple years back they've had an absurd amount of people in mount pleasant in general reaching out to them for advice, help, etc. They are interested in if the water or some other factor could be responsible for it. They've had a bunch of people testing the water and shit lately
guessing this is the official suggestions thread. winner of our FFB league here picks a location to go for our draft the next year. winner picked Charleston. coming 8/31-9/3. flights from austin were $200 cheaper coming in on Thursday instead of Friday and AirBNB only $80. Everyone else had already gotten tickets when I made this decision so I'll be there Thursday ~1pm til Friday ~noon by myself. AirBNB is directly behind a place called Prohibition. Food/Drink recommendations welcomed. Would like to do a nice solo dinner and go somewhere to drink afterwards. not into the club scene, if that's even a thing there, more into some low key live music. Breakfast/brunch for friday as well. Any touristy things to do Thursday afternoon? Or just daytime things to do in general? Assuming airport > AirBNB best option is Uber/Lyft? Good spot for 10-person dinner? reasonably nice but not breaking the bank. few of the guys probably would prefer <$50 for the food part at least, but if there's kind of a "must try" place that's gonna be $100 a head go ahead and name it General fun places to go during the day for groups of that size and then bars at night that are fun and in the 27-35 age range? If there's already a post or two with some/all of this info point me there
Anyone been to McCrady's since Brock shrunk it and turned it into a tasting menu? Just made reservations for the wifes birthday.
I bought one of those home test kits for your water and mine was all clear. It tested positve for "hardiness" which 'im not sure what that means, but from a quick internet search it doesn't seem too bad. No pesticides or any other negatives. Seems like the results of the Mount Pleasant Water Department testing should be any day now.
This new one has been making its round the last day Spoiler MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — A man who lives in Mount Pleasant's Dunes West community sent a sample of his drinking water to Charleston-based GEL Laboratory for testing on July 14. When he received the results July 17, he said he was concerned. The man, who has asked to remain anonymous, told ABC News 4 he sent one sample to the local lab to test for 25 perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) that he believed Mount Pleasant Waterworks did not test for. His results showed 12 out of 25 were detected, including perfluoro-2-propoxypropanoic acid (PFPrOPrA). According to the EPA, the substance, produced by DuPont, is commonly known as GenX. MPW and DHEC are aware of the water test results and tell us they’re looking into the matter. Clay Duffie, the general manager of MPW, told ABC News 4 he is taking the matter seriously and would like to see the report. Duffie also said the company does test “for multiple PFC’s,” and says none have been detected in Mount Pleasant or Charleston's water systems. Duffie added that GenX is an emerging contaminant with no maximum safe level set currently by the Environmental Protection Agency. We’ve reached out to the EPA for comment but have not heard back yet. The man’s water test for pesticides is due back on Wednesday. We’ll update you on the results.
The pictures of the tarp falling on the Don holt are hilarious. That fucking blows for everyone involved
Hope everyone is safe. Coming up for a wedding next month. Planning on eating at Husk and Leon's... any other must see restaurants while we're there?
I went solo for my first trip. Women went shopping, I nursed my hangover with the best I've ever had. If nothing else, grab you some brisket on the way out of town to eat once you're home
I could be eaten there multiple meals. Sean Brock owns it (chef of Husk). Iirc, they have a good happy hour as well
Confirmed 167 tuna burger last night was ridiculous. Oysters and Clams on point too. Oku pretty cool little cocktail spot. Lots of talent kinda seemed like a who's who of ex frat/sorority locals. Guy doing improv violin over DJ music was good. Doing HH at Oyster house while the rest of the group trickles in this afternoon.
Eh, not bad if you're into history. But, there really isnt a ton of stuff to see at the Fort itself. And you waste time riding the boats to and from the island. If you have plenty of time, do it. But, I wouldnt highly recommend it.
Was probably a dude named Seth g on the violin. He's sick and makes bank. He's like 1500/hour. Been playing at oku since he first started
had a blast this weekend. really fun town both for solo adult-tourist and large group debauchery. 167 on thursday was the best meal hands down Jack's Cafe great diner breakfast Friday morning Walked from there through Market St Market > Waterfront Park > The Battery > Whitepoint Gardens - all the way back up King Street. Love the scenery, parks and architecture in that part of town. Oyster House HH got a ton of food and booze without spending much at all Bay Street Biergarten saturday brunch was great just a ton of Clemson folks going ape shit over scoring on Kent State and me being in an Auburn polo got a lot of good (friendly) trash talk Ale House for afternoon games was crowded as hell and it started raining so everyone packed in from the patio but could see that being a great gameday spot most of the time Andoli's (i think was the name) semi-hole in the wall pizza spot no that let us have a private room for our draft. good pies and really fun late 60s couple that own it were cool as hell Ate at Lowcountry Bistro for brunch before leaving yesterday. She Crab soup was probably the best I've had. Stayed at Prohibition for most of the night time drinking. And our place was some 2 story home divided into two "apartments" top and bottom at 106 canon street. Real fun group of wedding girls was staying in the bottom floor + both groups bringing people back from king street after the bars = combination house party that went til probably 5am both nights. Didn't meet a single person that wasn't extremely friendly and didn't give you the "yall aren't from around here" asshole vibe that you tend to get in some cities. Uber drivers were basically tour guides throwing out history lessons non-stop. 10/10 Labor Day destination. Appreciate the recommendations Ark
