Me too. Been here for a while. Luiz has brilliant moments of passing but just too many mistakes for a team that can't score to endure
He needs to change things up badly for Saturday. Embarrassing. A 2-1 loss would have been a pretty bad result here. Their keeper has made a few very nice saves but this is still a deserved win for Bournemouth.
Yeah. +CHO +Christensen -Pedro/William -Luiz and I think we have to do something with Kovacic/Barkley/RLC
Yeah I mean... Sarri out. Hire whoever Eden wants. Won't matter, they'll likely be sacked in 2 years anyway.
I'm willing to be patient with sarri. It's a total overhaul of the system but the club needs to stay behind him too.
Going two straight years without the Champions League would be devastating. Hard to imagine us winning Europa or finishing top 4 if these types of performances continue.
I agree but he ripped the team's effort in the media and this was their response in the next league match...
Fucking pathetic. Something is terribly rotten at the club from the management to the coaches to the players and it’s all going to come to a head with the upcoming transfer ban and Hazard leaving. Even if Sarri is the right guy (I want to believe but the results thus far are discouraging) the majority of fans already want him out which will lead to another cycle of hoping for fourth every season. No clue what the solution is, just depressing.
It’s the third game since that though. I believe in sarri’s system. I don’t think we have the players to run it. If the club won’t build the squad to player sarriball then just sack him now. Hazard is most likely gone in the summer. If Hudson-Odoi doesn’t start against Huddersfield he should just sit out the rest of the season. RLC needs to start as well. Kovacic is useless. Thank god we didn’t buy him.
The issue with Sarri is his rep for not giving a shit about the transfer market and being able to make his system work with the existing squad. Clearly that's not happening and I'm sure the board will lay blame at his feet (which is misguided).
Today was less about sarri’s tactics and more about players converting opportunities and not being stupid. Bournemouth isn’t that talented and just sat back and bunkered and countered. Their counters were almost unanimously conceived from boneheaded turnovers, breakdowns in concentration, and lapses of total judgment. If anything this should drive him to play CHO if the vets can do no better.
The two worst run clubs in Europe, who win in spite of their horrible squad management because of brilliance of certain key players, are not surprisingly 1 and 2.
also been thinking that the rest of this season and where we finish Top 4 is a pivotal moment for the club. Might be over-reacting, but feels like if things continue to trend downward and we miss top 4 we could be in for an extended bad spell.
Even if we clip 4th, if Hazard leaves for say 100 million pounds we simply can't replace him. Obviously will be nice to have the extra money from champions league and the ability to sell new players on the idea of playing in the champions league but regardless of what happens this squad needs an overhaul and that should start in the summer. Pick 3-4 of our youth players to bring back/keep and build around and sprinkle in good, young talent with them. Need to build our next squad.
I think this has been the case for a while now and we all recognize it. But we continue with the stop gap/poor decision buys. I don't have faith that we will do what's rigjt/necessary.
I agree. The sport is getting faster and younger. Our manager turnover and constantly changing managers have caused purchases like drinkwater and zappacosta. No one would ever take drinkwater on loan. We have him signed for 3 more seasons I believe. All in cost was about £60m over 5 years for the guy who doesn’t play. Roughly the same overall cost of salah or mane for Liverpool. It’s ridiculous. We don’t spend like we used to but player purchases is a bigger problem than overall spend itself.
For all of the money we spend on youth and young players we end up with managers and seemingly a tone from the top that youth is some kind of disease.
The comments to this tweet sum up our thoughts on this truly horrific lineup. Not even sure I want to watch.
You've got to be fucking kidding me Maybe he's trying to rebuild their confidence against an inferior side? I don't know how to justify this
It’s Huddersfield and they’re trash but so are Bournemouth but awesome pass and finish from Kante and Higuin. Looking so much better today.
Thought Barkley was really good today, him and hazard have good link up play. CHO for Willian and we are set
Hazard says his mind is made up but didn’t say what. I think it’s obvious that he wants Real Madrid. He doesn’t want to screw Chelsea. If Madrid go after him early and offer £100-120m he wants to leave and go there. If they make him a backup plan to mbappe/Neymar or actually sign one of those guys then he signs back with Chelsea. I still think you he goes for £100m, sell Willian, bring in pulisic, let Pedro run down his contract and then bring in one more winger. Another young winger who sarri can mold in his style of play.
Also matt law was asked about the director of football and he said he’d heard a few months ago they wanted to add one soon but that’s it’s gone quiet on that front and he’s less confident. Would like someone installed soon because this summer will be the most important summer of the Abramovich era if the transfer ban is in fact true.
