He lashed out. No need to kick out with your studs. Did Rudi embellish? Yup, but thats just losing your cool.
Feels good to see a skipper adjust tactics depending on the competition. That doesn’t happen last season.
my 5 year old was watching and referred to Chelsea beating the turkey's (his guess off their logo)....I about fell over laughing
Chelsea win Spurs loss United loss Arsenal draw about as good of a weekend as we can have at this point.
I can feel the bitterness through just reading the words. Can’t wait to get home and watch this interview. So butthurt that his former player tactically outclassed him.
Mason Mount can be frustrating in the final third but my word was he all over the pitch today. Amazing stuff.
I’d recommend the whole video starting around 4 or 5 minutes when the game starts but the 2 minutes starting around 10:30 are must watch. The celebrations and lampard going crazy are awesome.
I know it's nitpicking, but one thing I would still like to see is us take advantage of chances to put a game away. I know man up 2-0 it was pretty much over, but still would have liked to have gotten a 3rd and not had to worry at all.
Yeah. Tammy was off by a step on the disallowed one and Michy barely missed. Still would have loved one of those to get in.
MotD II spent a lot of time talking about the racism and what to do about it. Robbie Earle said Dave should have grabbed the team after the 3rd announcement and walked the squad to the dressing room. I’m not sure what the ramifications would be for that and I also don’t have any problem with that. It would force the FA to actually do something. Earle also got notably emotional when asked about how it might feel like for Toni after he’s home. He said that he knew what it felt like and that at the end of the day in the solitude of yourself, it hurts. It really hurts. It was a great segment.
I kind of disagree with anyone saying Toni should have done this or that. I am okay with someone (especially Robbie Earle who likely has experience in Toni’s position) saying what they would do but I think it should be toni’s decision. I would support him 100% if he chose that path but I do think it should be up to the player.
Yeah I think he was trying to say that since Dave is the captain he thinks that’s the only thing to start making people pay attention. I doubt most of the players would want to do that especially due to the fixture. Something has to give though.
That’s how I took it as well. While Toni shouldn’t have to be the one to make that decision, frankly, no one affiliated with either club should have to. These games are too important to put that all on an individual that has a stake in the outcome, it creates an incentive not to challenge the behavior. The league or ref need the authority to call a game off if there is racist abuse and then dock the offending club points, but the criteria and punishment need to be made clear to all prior to enforcement. That’s the only way this shit stops. Fines and individual stadium bans aren’t doing it.
Was it confirmed the abuse continued? Or did they keep making the announcement in response to the original incident?
Sometimes I worry that Frank is too flexible with tactics and team selection but it's nice to see a manager that is more than willing to change both.
I like that he’s flexible. I think that’s the proper approach unless you get to spend what pep can to buy whoever you want for your system. I just don’t think frank always gets it right which we have to accept with a young manager. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I think we’ve been better in big games than results have shown before we finally got the result yesterday.
Embarrassing tactics and bench by lampard. He’s treated this game like a friendly putting Barkley and Pedro on the bench instead of Reece who this game actually needs and the 3 at the back at home against Southampton is the same mistake he made last time we had a successful game with 5 at the back. It’s not our best formation against lesser sides and it certainly isn’t our best formation if you are playing CHO, azpi and Jorginho.
No ability to break down teams that are fully committed to defending and playing for a draw. Bad crosses in all day.
I said on Twitter we should go mount for a CB at the half and pulisic for CHO around 60 minutes. One down and one to go. Get it right frank.
Finally a big save for kepa. It’s really amazing that every single chance a team gets against us seems to be a big time chance.
Azpi is really trying to match the historically bad crossing that we saw from 2018 Alonso. We have to be the worst “big” side in the world at crossing.
