I couldn't watch the first half but I've watched 2 minutes of the second and want to sign Mendy to a 20 year deal just for being not Kepa.
Great save by Mendy! I enjoyed the corner after though even more. Mendy went to catch it and Zouma got in his way to hear it away. Going to take a few games for our defenders to get used to a real goalkeeper back there who can collect crosses.
Having these two at CB helps so much with these long balls. So much recovery pace. Wouldnt actually mind Werner central with Havertz behind him. Switch Cal over to the left and then....no clue for the right side.
you have to switch something up. I’m fine with Emerson for chilwell since chilwell probably can’t play the full 90 but it doesn’t change anything. We need a real change the team looks stale. I’d take off kova. He looks like he has a second yellow in him today.
Freaking a mount just passed it right to the defender on a 2v1 Feel like we always miss the pass on those
Our fault for blowing two clear goal scoring opportunities between CHO and Mount Should have put the game away
Ben Davies sprinted off the pitch to take a shit in the middle of play, Mourinho left to see wtf he was doing.
Emerson sleepwalked and then half a step late for the goal. He just has such poor awareness. He’s physical got a lot to like.
Shootout in your first game for a new club. Don't envy Mendy but luckily he has about the easiest act to follow in the world.
Even before the penalty miss that’s the worst game I’ve ever seen Mount play. Maybe playing him 200 minutes a week isn’t wise...
Frank needs to sort out this midfield though. We don’t seem to have a 3 person midfield that works at all. We can only play 1 of Jorginho, kante and kovacic and they are the only 3 we have for a 2 man pivot. None are bad players but there are no good combinations amongst the 3.
I still have no idea who was at LW and who was at RW when Tammy came on. It looked like both Werner and CHO decided they are the LW and neither was going to play RW so they both just chilled on the left hand side after Tottenham tied it up. I thought this game needed havertz personally. Instead it was like for like subs and no tactical changes.
Whatever, less fixture congestion amirite? God damn though, CHO makes that pass and Tammy's first touch is maybe a goal. Really frustrating to watch him because he all the tools to get in the right spots, but he can't seem to consistently make the smart play in the final third.
Unfortunately, I don’t think you can play Kova and Kante together. They’re just too similar in possession and too undisciplined to stay deep. Go 4-3-3 with Jorginho at the base against weaker sides (with some combination of Havertz, Mount, and Kante in the 8s) and then go 3 at the back w/ Mount/Havertz and Kante in a pivot against top sides. I have no idea what to do w/ Werner. He can’t play on the left and to jam Havertz and a CF onto the pitch seems to fuck everything up.
We need to win something this year and this was one of our best chances. I love the guy but it’s Chelsea. Chaos reigns.
I'm pretty confident Frank will be allowed to grow along with the players this season. Three year plan and all. The leash will be non-existent next year though.
CHO is willian without the work rate (although To be fair his work rate is improving). The same final 3rd indecisiveness. People compare him and sancho. He likely has the same raw ability and his 2 minute highlight tape if he played a full season might actually be better. Sancho makes the right pass and hits the target when he shoots most of the time. CHO does it willian amount of times.
