Watching how quickly Liverpool and Manchester United go from defense to attack makes watching us even more frustrating. You see it more from pogba/Bruno from United and the fullbacks from Liverpool but you can tell that their other players have instructions to play the risk ball. Mount will do it at times but he’s inconsistent. Jorginho can make the pass technically and I see him looking for it at times but not enough to play someone so lacking athletically. This is what kovacic has to do with how bad he is in the final 3rd but never does. The fullbacks don’t either. Chilwell and James are definitely capable of doing it.

These are runs that pulisic and Werner made in their early days. Pulisic early last year and Werner this year. No one ever looked for them so they stopped doing it as often. Just a waste of energy. To me that screams tactics. I just don’t understand why we were playing Werner at LW and not doing that. Or pulisic for that matter. Havertz hasn’t shown an ability to do it either.

It’s impossible to know if it’s the players not following instruction or if the manager is telling them to build up slower. I just can’t comprehend buying Werner and then failing to do more of what he specializes in. The counterattack he missed against Fulham was just a player on poor form but he should have 2 of those chances every game. He gets one every 5-7 games recently.

Haaland is awesome and all but I’d much prefer to put money into the midfield and center backs.

Either way, he’s not coming here.

Yeah I mean it’s not my money and it’s not like we have a salary cap. So I’m never going to be disappointed at the club going after a player. But agree the money could be better spent elsewhere

I understand the whole “it’s not my money thing” but there is likely a limit to how much Roman will invest so I’m always going to hope we spend in the most efficient way possible.

They’re gonna HAMMER the next team that runs afoul of it (and isn’t owned by a country). Might wriggle out of it in court but Chelsea should be able to compete while following FFP.

This game is probably the least confident I’ve been in a game since we played Bayern in the champions league last season. It would shock me if we get a draw. I’m expecting a 3-0 loss. That’s just where I’m at with expectations from this team right now. I hope they prove me wrong.

If Kante is hurt, that’s mucho not good but probably close to the best Frank could put out considering.

No ziyech is a big call but He can hopefully make an impact as a sub. I think that’s a ballsy midfield to play given our recent struggles but he’s at least taking a chance. I’m hoping that mount plays deeper and it’s more a mount/kova pivot with havertz further upfield. I don’t think kova can play as a lone DM but at least it’s something different. CHO starting is good. Big chance for pulisic again. Going to need some magic from him at some point

What in the actual fuck was that, leaving Pulisic one on one. Ridiculously lucky strike but just putrid defending.

Unlucky start. Got incredibly lucky in the last game so can’t complain too much. Haven’t done a thing offensively yet. That’s a bigger concern with this attacking lineup.

James had Tammy with a through ball on the break and instead plays a meaningless sideways pass

Should be 2-0. We would have never made that pass to Maddison. We would have dumped that off to the guy outside to fling in another cross. That’s the difference between chelsea and the good teams.

when other teams attack they have a plan. We look like we have no fucking idea what to do or what anyone else is doing. We just dribble until we can’t and then just pass sideways or backwards and try again. If we don’t lose possession we eventually get a cross.

this just looks like a much less organized version of sarriball.

At this point, it almost seems like we'd be better off with a manager who just rolls the ball out and tells the team to play however they want. The only explanation for how we play is that Frank is telling them to (1) hold the ball at all costs (even over taking scoring opportunities) and (2) play for crosses (which haven't worked at all).

We are a chore to watch at this point.

I’m pretty close to muting it and putting it on my smaller tv and putting something else on.

finally at least got one scoring chance. That’s all individual brilliance from havertz and pulisic.

I still have no idea what we are trying to do. More of that though and less playing for crosses.

we have the individual talent to draw or even win games that we deserve to lose. It’s certainly not because we have a plan of what we are trying to do though.

Somewhat ironically given his form but would really like to see Werners pace against their high line.

we won’t play that ball anyway. Pace doesn’t matter if you fullbacks and midfielders refuse to play that pass. Liverpool played that pass 10 times to mane and salah just in the second half against United. We haven’t played a ball like that 10 times in the last 10 matches.

Instead of working this back to 2-1 we need to just lose 4-0 and get it over with. We can’t keep dropping points and coming close enough. There is just no plan at all. Get a caretaker who is willing to come up with a plan for our attack and then court a big name manager in the summer.
