re: Sarri I don’t care he’s leaving. It’s not some massive loss. The team played like crap through most of the season. His squad selection was incredible frustrating. He would likely have been sacked by Christmas anyway the way Chelsea handle managers. I don’t really want Frank right now. They can’t replace Hazard, it’s been going to be a slog and the club isn’t patient.
I think that’s what they wanted with sarri. I get the impression that Roman wants something like that. They hate how we haven’t benefited from our youth teams being good. I just think that when the match going fans started chanting fuck sarriball that they felt he wasn’t the right guy. I don’t see fans ever turning on lampard. Not the twitter fans but the people at games. We will see. I get the skepticism and a part of me agrees with you. I just don’t think we can be good without buying and the only way a manager survives a bad season is if the fans stay on his side. Lampard, terry and drogba probably be only 3 people who can accomplish that.
Imagine another London club winning the Champions League. Wake up from your dream because that’s fake news.
Sarri is likely out and lampard likely replaces him. That doesn’t sell papers though so I’m sure garcia, Allegri, blanc, and any other manager who isn’t employed or is employed by a club worse than Chelsea will be linked until its official. Not sure why this is taking so long though. Whoever the new manager is, they deserve the full preseason that Chelsea didn’t give sarri so they could save a few million on his Napoli buyout.
If I was predicting a media outlet to confirm the news with quotes from sarri, I wouldn’t have expected vanity fair to be that outlet.
Being reported that the CHO extension will be announced once the hazard departure is done. He’s saying could be more. Might see RLC and CHO sign new extensions as a way of the club trying to spark some good news after we sell hazard.
Would love to find out we signed CHO, but it would be true blue for us to finally sign a youth player to an extension, only to find out he's not the same player after injury.
So David Meyler of Coventry City in League One, on loan from Reading (previously with Hull) is also a Youtuber for FIFA. He’s pretty entertaining and I like watching him but he did a recent video where he did a FUT draft choosing only players he’s played with or against and had a funny story when he chose Willian. Took Willian and said they played against Chelsea in the FA Cup and he was taking a pen down 4-0 and Willian came up to him. He said that people think Willian told him he would miss but he didn’t, he said “dink him; he’ll go crazy” about Willy Caballero in goal. He went power and was stopped but just thought it was hilarious that up 4-0 Willian gave a tip to score against Chelsea to see Willy go crazy
Rumors that we are breaking the over 30 1 year contract rule again. This time for Willian. I will rage. Let him play out his last year and go get paid in China next season off a free.
Keep seeing the 88 million (pounds) that is almost guaranteed to go to 130 with add one. Good business all around imo.
It’s not like they can spend it. Just glad to see they treated him well. Makes me dislike Courtois and how he handled things more.
Was listening to a podcast this morning discussing Real Madrid last summer when Ronaldo left. They didnt have a plan to spend the funds and zidane left so they sat on it and plotted this summer. They knew who they wanted and signed a few over the season so they had some deals done before the window began and knew who their top targets were well in advance. They got champions league which I don’t see us getting next season but if we go into the summer with a good plan of attack, we can look a lot more like the 2004-2013 teams and less like the last few seasons as far as our transfer dealings.
130M euros. But many seem to agree that it'll end up being at least $115 due to the attainable incentives
Deal was structured so that both clubs can “win” with their media. Chelsea got their asking price including all incentives and be base deal is what real wanted to pay. Might never know what those incentives are and if they are attained but I think it’s a win for both clubs. Even at 130 that’s still a good deal for Madrid.
Against the wishes of most Chelsea fans I think he will. With the transfer ban and loftus-cheeks long term injury I can see the appeal of buying the only midfielder we are allowed to buy but I doubt the fee is that high. He really wasn’t any good for us. Only times he looked solid were when he played in a deeper role and we have Jorginho and kante already.
I’m thinking less than that. Will depend on what his salary is now and what it would cost us in pay for him. Madrid will likely try and capitalize on loftus-cheek’s injury but kovacic was pretty awful for us for large stretches of the year and showed he can really only play deep and that’s probably the strongest part of our whole team. If we pass on him it will be very interesting to see where he ends up. Serie A reunion makes a lot of sense.
Word is that Chelsea are looking to ideally get ban thrown out by CAS (unlikely) or reduced to 1 window and would rather serve it this summer. It’s starting to become clear that the board had no actual plan for player acquisition if the ban is frozen so hopefully us taking the summer off in good faith will get the ban reduced to 1 window and Cech and company can make a plan to add 1-2 guys in January and the go all out next summer.
I’m not a big Willian fan by any means but one encouraging stat is that he is FAR better on the left as opposed to the right. Night and day difference last year. He should see much more time on the left next season.
Makes sense, he’s much more of a cut it inside and shoot winger than one that gets down the line and crosses.
A 2 striker setup would seem unwise when we don’t even have one good one. We really don’t have the fullbacks to play 3 at the back. I think a 4-2-3-1 with Jorginho/kante pivot and Barkley/RLC when healthy as the number 10 could make a lot of sense.
If it's reduced to one window we'll overpay on panic buys in January since we'll be stuck in 5th/6th place.
We haven’t always bought dumb. It wasn’t that long ago that we elected to pass on buying a striker because Diego costa was the guy we wanted and we couldn’t have him until the following summer. Even this January we added higiuan but gave ourselves the flexibility for it to be a short term loan. If Cech is running the player acquisition decisions I’m more hopeful than whoever picks the players now. We have absolutely no idea how that works. Does Roman by the players he likes on fifa/football manager? Do we just buy players who friendly agents tell us to? I think it depends on if it’s the current status quo or if we set it up under Cech and maybe 1 or 2 others to act like emanalo and create a real plan.
Reece James just got stretchered off with what people are saying looked like a serious ankle injury. The one year we could actually rebuild and our top 3 homegrown players all have extremely serious long-term injuries. Unbelievable.
