Just watched the press conference. He’s clearly confident and you can tell he knows the tricks of the British press well. When asked if it was his dream job he answered “that will make a nice headline won’t it.” I also like that he didn’t really talk specifics. See what the players do in preseason and go from there. Nice also that the club did not make top 4 a requirement. I believe that he’s the first manager under Roman that this wasn’t a demand. Also when did we pivot to head coach as the title? They keep calling him that. I don’t remember anyone having a title other than manager.
Managerial experience aside, the club just got a massive injection of people who can restore that mentality we've seen erode over the past few years. I would've been excited for Lamps as manager regardless of my fears of it all going wrong, but the timing of everything makes this feel different. I feel more optimistic every day, even if we are in a shit situation.
Not good that he had to have surgery. I can’t believe him and CHO are both hurt the one year that youth has the best chance.
Mount has been fantastic and then gets the goal. Goalscoring midfielder is what we need with RLC out.
A lot of good as far as young players stepping up. Alonso doesn’t look good against an Irish league side. It’s incredible how bad he is. Such a missed opportunity to sell him to Atlético this summer.
Bakayoko was even worse, a truly horrid performance. Clearly has one foot out the door, hope PSG are still interested. First half was great, just needed a bit more quality near the box but good stuff from just about everyone out there. Second half was pretty rough...
Leonardo was at ac Milan when they brought in bakayoko last season and he is now at psg. If marina can work her magic and get a good bid from psg we have to consider it.
As an aside don’t look at Nike coaches polos this year. Fucking woof. They fuck over college football fans just like soccer fans.
Everyone knew they’d screw us over after the first kit was great. Parents got me an adidas Chelsea polo for my birthday in 2017 which was nice but quality sucks compared to Nike polos.
I buy a kit every year (up to 17ish iirc) because I have a problem but really just wear the newer ones . Old ones (2008ish-2013ish) are too baggy (also used to be fatter then) and look ridiculous but the best are the 2005 centenary shirt and the 2012 champions league winner shirt. Always partial to the older crest too but only have two of those and they're starting to fall apart.
Speaking of merch, saw this on Reddit and appears to be an official Chelsea video from the 90's that would be unairable on american television. Probably NSFW?
Was honestly nervous as an American what his signing would mean for his development but with the transfer ban, he is really going to have plenty of opportunities to prove himself. Can’t wait to see him in action.
