Should have been clear from watching but this shows the strategy to go outside to Reece was clearly the game plan from the beginning. Reece had so much space so often.
I am in the middle. I’m not a huge kounde fan and I don’t love buying expensive players who I find system specific when we change coaches so often but kounde fits really well as the RCB in tuchels system. Zouma doesn’t really fit the current style of the play and his value likely decreases when he doesn’t play again this year. I found it telling that chalobah was the guy tuchel trusted over Zouma. He didn’t sub off Zouma in the supercup for anything other than sporting reasons. that said, Zouma is going to be really good at west ham. He’s perfect for what moyes wants from his CBs and people will criticize the move on our part because of it but he wouldn’t have the same success here if tuchel is the manager
so just taking a stab but we probably are ok with 2. Sevilla, Barca, Madrid, Juve? 3. Not Porto or Atalanta 4. Not Milan
I'm sure this will come back to bite me but outside of Atalanta, Milan and maybe Leipzig, I'm good with getting matched up w/ anyone in Pot 3 and 4 (travel to russia/ukraine notwithstanding). Obviously PSG are the worst draw of 2 but I think Madrid and Dortmund are the 2nd and 3rd toughest outs Chelsea could get.
As long as it’s an option and not an obligation then I’m fine with the move since we need a 4th CM and billy needed a year on loan. Unlike the kova deal I don’t see us utilizing the option on this one. Even if we complete this I would like to see us get tchouameni or camavinga, even if we loaned them back to their current clubs for a year. Monaco lost in the champions league qualifying playoff to shakhtar so tchouameni could be available for cheap now
Pretty impressive window for Marina and company. It’ll all inevitably fall apart because both Chelsea and Tuchel are involved but I hope the honeymoon lasts for a bit longer.
