No idea if he’d come but would love Tchoumeni or Rice (or both if Kante and Jorginho leave) along with Kounde. Peresic is fine I guess as a backup to Chilwell assuming Alonso is out.
Good thread on where the process is at. That said, knowing how delicate this whole thing feels and who is currently running the UK, I won’t feel comfortable until the final document is signed.
Feels like a win in the current condition of the club. Add in 2 trophies and can’t really complain all that much. Will be a very interesting offseason.
One point gets us 3rd (+18 GD on Spurs). I don't really care at this point though. I think literally everyone has to be happy the season is mercifully "over" now and the last two are just formalities. Now just need to sweat out the club continuing to exist. No big deal.
Can’t be mad at 3rd when you look at 1 and 2 as well. They haven’t had half the injuries we have had at key positions.
20 shots to 2 and we draw, at least the team is consistent at home. Oh well, play some kids Sunday and go into next season with a little less drama.
Yeah, you’re wrong. He has to finish that sitter. I hope he leaves the club. Not up to the Chelsea standard as a starter.
Chelsea not being able to score a 2nd goal yesterday to actually win that match and drawing for 3rd was the perfect ending (I know we still have Sunday). All told, I don't think we can really be that disappointed in the season. Won the 2 trophies early, lost Chilwell and Reece for a portion of time and they really are critical to Tuchel system, bunch of other injuries, Lukaku interview saga and then on top of it all the sanctions (which I don't think gets talked about enough for the potential impact it had on the atmosphere in the club and players). We pull off the comeback against Real and/or just win a penalty shootout and it's an entirely feel.
Of course. I just think that on the whole he’s unfairly criticized by TT given the performance of others. TT clearly doesn’t rate him, so yeah, time for this marriage to end.
"Unfortunately, my contract negotiations had already started to get difficult last fall. Business is business, but when you don’t hear any news from the club from August to January, the situation becomes complicated. After the first offer, there was a long gap of just nothing. We’re not robots, you know? You cannot wait for months with so much uncertainty about your future. Obviously, no one saw the sanctions coming, but in the end, other big clubs were showing interest, and I had to make a decision. I will leave it at that, because business aside, I have nothing bad to say about this club. " seems very poorly handled by the club...
I dunno. It seems consistent with the way things have been done. He wanted a huge raise, they came back with a contract and that was that.
Will miss Rudi and his absurd bursts of speed and the goon he would be at times. He was immense in the Champions League run last year and I will always remember him for that.
The only one I resent from this batch of departures is Christensen. Been a complete cunt down the stretch.
Rebuilding the entire defense sucks but Reece to Kai is a nice reminder of the attacking youth. edit that was Kenedy, I’m an idiot
Underwhelming. Had all the makings of a listless draw that underperforms xG but *checks notes* Ross the Boss pulled it out?
Sounds like the EC and Portugal stuff won’t take long. Most seem to think an announcement by the end of the week.
Pretty rough to only have one guy on the list after spending almost 300 million on attackers the last few seasons (and the guy on there is from the academy).
I’m sure there’s takeover fatigue but another hurdle cleared. Sounds like governmental approvals are a formality now.
Sure everyone has seen it by now but the government approved the sale. Actually really excited for this summer and how things unfold. Cautiously optimistic about the new ownership group
I’ve seen it mentioned a bunch so I don’t think it does. Can probably just go ahead and send it over to Sevilla.
I’m sure this will be word doc’d but is he going to be able to play more than a handful of games in the PL? He’s already struggled with fitness, he’s built like a twig, and he’s coming to a more physical league?
There’s every reason to be skeptical he can stay healthy. But when he’s actually healthy, he’s pretty fantastic and probably worth taking the risk on
It's a free transfer, so minimal risk involved IMO. He brings a skill-set that we currently don't have on the squad. It's worth the minimal risk IMO.
Disagree. At this point everyone knows that free transfer just means instead of a transfer fee there are typically larger wages and a signing on bonus to the player. It’s not 100% of the time but for a player of Dembélé’s level, it would be shocking if that weren’t the case.
