I still think he’s insanely talented but due to some horrific decision making the last 3 years, it’s probably best to just move on. Guy is gonna be good for Madrid but will kill it when he goes to Bayern three seasons after that.
Disappointed in Ugarte. Fine with Havertz going. He was maddeningly inconsistent. We will always have 2021.
Obviously the sources will vary but everything I’ve seen from the Chelsea end is that they’ll want 75+. He’s a good player and very skilled but not a 9 and a bit of a luxury player imo. He’s not slow but always looks a bit languid and his body language drives people nuts.
therein lies the rub a lot will depend on what the club decides to do with Kane or whomever they target to replace Benzema but if he plays almost exclusively through the middle I dont think there’s room for him unless he’s coming with the understanding that it’ll be a backup or shared role
maybe he could line up at RW but drop in like Fede but he doesn’t have Valverde’s motor or defensive capacity so it would basically just be as a false 9.
Until the Saudis buy their way into the CL (or form a competitor). Bummed that Kante is gone but at those numbers this makes sense for everyone. Guy was on 300+ per week and is now gonna make five times more.
Money aside (because even Todd isn’t that insane) he wasn’t healthy enough to be relied upon so letting him go makes sense but no idea what our midfield will look like. Massive turnover isn’t a recipe for success but there’s no chance the youth get the squad where we need it. Should be another rough year…
I don't think there's much choice but to hard reset and hopefully be in the mix for Europa/Conference. Should've gone all in on it last summer instead of layering on another window of mistakes that have to be offloaded. Of the non-youth signings from last summer the only one that isn't completely useless is Fofana.
That first match against Arsenal he was absolutely superb and looked like we found the perfect striker, went to shit after that.
It’ll be interesting to see how they handle him. Assuming another loan this season but seems like a real talent.
Sounds like Ziyech, Lukaku, Auba, and K2 might all be headed for the Saudi league. PIF bailing the club out of some truly shitty transfers. Just need to sneak Cucarella in there and the club should be in good shape.
Except he’s not a castoff, he’s the best forward Chelsea have (not saying much, but still). I’m fine with ending the experiment but selling him to Arsenal feels like a huge mistake, particularly at a fee far below what was paid for him. Fuck, I hate the ownership. Absolute clown show at every turn.
Havertz will go to Bayern on a cut rate deal (as Bayern always does) and end up looking like a top 10 player in the world.
Needed to follow the Robben plan to actually make some money though. Also, Robben was like 15 million, not 70+. Decent at Chelsea, mediocre at Madrid/PSG/whoever, then Ballon D’Or level at Bayern.
Kind of hard to compare player transfer values over 15 years apart with how much they have changed in that time frame. Chelsea bought Robben for £12.1m in 2004 and Havertz for £62m (I don't know what add-ons have been triggered, probably something for winning UCL) in 2020. Robben sold for nearly double that 3 years later to RM. There seems to be little chance Havertz gets moved for even what we paid for him.
Matt Law says he doesn’t expect Kai to be interested in re-signing and with two years left this is probably the best time to sell him.
First game aside, relatively easy first two months and Christmas period isn’t too bad either. November - early December stretch will be brutal though.
Sounds like City might be kicking the tires on Rice so Caicedo would seem to figure in Arsenal’s plans potentially. Brighton has fleeced us over the years so we’ve at least got a relationship with them. Let’s get this done quickly.
From what I've read they are waiting to finalize some outgoing transfers before we submit a formal bid for Caicedo. Probably some FFP stuff going on too as I'm pretty sure the measurement period runs from July 1 - June 30.
I would imagine we want to get as many sales done prior to 6/30 as possible and push any buying beyond that.
At least y’all sold your soul for $50 mil. Everton did it for $10 and called it “a progress in business deals at the club”
