Anyone ever hit a lull when they just play like shit? I was cruising up towards 1300 and then just nose dived all the way back down around 1100 for a bit. Back around 1200 now and climbing. Feel like I’m going to get stuck around 1300
Free everything. I can’t fathom paying a cent to play/learn chess. Tournaments, puzzles, studies, etc. It also artificially inflates my ego by starting me higher on account creation so I can say I’m 1500 rather than chess.com’s 1200. This is only half joking. I don’t have any fide rating but I would be surprised if it’s too bad because there’s only one young guy at my in-person chess club who consistently kills me. Everyone else I can hang with.

I have no problem with it, especially if over the board tournaments are pulling events out from him. He won’t win but to have Hikaru making streams about statistical analysis which has been debunked. Then claiming he isn’t any better than 2500 to now retracting that. Hans’s career is significantly impacted while the other online cheaters remain anonymous. Issue was/is Chess.com.
don't think he has any chance against hikaru. Don't think he has anything against chess.com either. Best bet is the tortious interference claim I think.
Has there been any real theory to how he cheated? Have read a number of articles and all I’ve seen is statistical improbability
Made an account on chess.com last night this is tight. After losing 4 out of my first 6 games I’m 11-2-1. I put that im a super beginner or whatever which is v true as I’ve probably played under 20 games in my life and zero in the last 10 years Having a good time
when you hit new game it’s at the top, the picture of the clock and you can pick how long the games can run
10 minutes seems about right. I would run out of time every single time with 5 minutes just played a game and lost because of time

I would definitely just play slower time controls like 30 minutes to start. People love getting addicted to blitz and bullet and never really improve
have a 1231 current rating, my highest was 1383 and i ordinarily sit within 1100-1300 these days. i should probably focus more on lessons and whatnot but ♂️ play 5 minute time controls exclusively. also would be on lichess if i could do it again. chess.com's paywalls are so annoying.
i've been 1073 more recently than i've been 1300+. but also i think a range is more appropriate for ELO anyways because my play is sporadic and often late at night or on work calls where i'm not 100% focused. i'm pretty sure i've beaten RonBurgundy and he's way higher than me ;)

At the very beginning id recommend just doing the training courses on chess.com and watching eric rosen and gothamchess. Everyone seems to swear by reasses your chess once youre into the 1300 range
