Probably not a good idea as the leader of your team to publicly throw your offensive line under the bus like that.
We are who we thought we were. A bad offensive football team with a good but aging defense in key spots. This is an offensive league and if you're below average on offense you need top tier special teams and defense otherwise good teams will expose you. It's not doom and gloom but we are clearly not a real contender. My biggest question is what you do with Pace/Nagy and the QB position. We're too good to blow it up but we are quickly approaching football purgatory. I don't want to be okay with going 9-7.
Just going to bump this re: Nagy as a reminder for those that think he's a good Head Coach and just a bad OC. His decision-making is awful IN ALL FORMS.
Only this franchise would tank in a year after two amazing QB classes would be available. 2022 QB class is not that great.
Cutting Leno, Massie, Foles and Graham saves you almost 27 mil vs the cap for next season. You can also restructure or extend guys like Hicks and Eddie Jackson
Ive said this before but our cap isn’t as some keep saying. they have flexibility and they can restructure deals. No way you bring back this OL. I fully expect two new OT and possibly a OG added. QB is the huge question. At this point I think your right and they go for a big fish via FA/Trade vs draft. The window for this team can’t wait on another rookie to develop.
That was my point. Pay Dak, your window to win something is probably 2-3 years anyway. Just go for it and if it fails, well then you rebuild. Bears can't go into next season with a late 1st round rookie or Nick Foles at QB.
last night was my breaking point and I’ve decided to abandon my idea of drafting a 1st round QB and rolling another year with Foles. He’s clearly pure garbage and I don’t think this FO/ Coach will be around long enough to develop the QB nor would I want them making that call
Can’t cut Foles next year. Right now he is at 6.6 million on the cap, it’s a 13 million cap hit next year if they cut him. Cutting Leno, Massie and Graham will save 18 million. The good thing is we can basically start over in 2022 with only Mack guaranteed huge money. Next year is gonna suck but we could head into 2022 with all our draft picks and 60-70 million to spend. The Foles trade, Trevathan deal this offseason were garbage.
You maybe right but we’re not going to have an extra $30 mill for Dak...that’s not including a starting caliber LT and RT. Foles and a rookie are going to be our QB’s next year.
If they took two OL in the first three rounds they would be upgrading the OL significantly. Do they have 30m for Dak? Depends on how the deal is structured and depends if he gets that type of money with Covid going to impact teams finances. I do believe it's more likely we stay with Foles and rookie QB. I just don't see any upside in Foles. He's shit. All the advance stats indicate he's even or worse than Mitch.
On the John's podcast they pointed out how the running game has turned to utter shit with Foles at QB and they made a good point that Foles is a statue and with Mitch teams had to keep eyes on Mitch. They also went to some more basic playcalls that not only helped Mitch but the OL. Seems like Nagy said I have Foles now so fuck those calls i'm going to my old sheet of plays
Yeah I mean watching the Cowboys implode once Dak was injured makes it clear who was holding that together and makes Dak more valuable.
cowboys scored 20, 40, 31, 38, 38, 31 with Dak. He got hurt and Dalton comes in gets 6 in the rest of the giants game then 10 and 3. But sure it was the O line and not Dak even though they’ve scored 19 points total without Dak and 198 with him
He got yards and points in junk time.. look at how bad they were getting blown out and his numbers before teams switched their defense to more prevent.. he also has better offensive weapons..
