Yeah I don't think Fox was Pace's call. I doubt Fangio was ever given real consideration for the head job. He even joked last week that it's only offensive guys getting jobs. Pace knows his ass is tied to Mitch so it makes sense to get a guy to nourish his development.
I more wanted Shurmur as the process went on but I guess Nagy will do. We’ve got to bolster the O-line this year tho, we haven’t had a decent one in 10 years.
WR x 2 OL CB x 2 S LB x 2 DL would be what I would want from the draft in some combo... But you can't bank on this injured and banged up OL and the returning WR
The Chiefs were high on Trubisky heading into the draft. I think their chart was something like 1. Mahomes 2. Trubisky 3. Watson 4. Kizer 5. Webb They were shopping very hard to replace Alex Smith after he totally choked against the Steelers and thought Trub could be a modern Rich Gannon. Nagy will eventually build towards a spread Offense to get one on one looks where he will have a clear speed advantage, while highlighting the QB's mobility. I'm actually surprised that Nagy was the hire and thought they were going to bring Dave Toub back home.
They'll draft a WR but I wouldn't bank on it being in the first round. I think they'll sign 2 and draft 1.
We'll see how he runs but definitely could see the Bears taking Josh Jackson from Iowa. Definitely need a CB.
Q is a can't miss. McGlinchey will likely be good but he is more of a risk, he struggles against speed at times. I'll stand by saying Nelson is the best player in the draft and the best OL in several years.
Can't see them going guard with so much money and draft capital already invested in interior lineman. Not 100% against it though.
Have to kick Long out. Trust me McGlinchey would be a great pick, he is a likely all pro RT. Nelson is just something I've never seen, ND has had some good OL and he has been by far the best, dude is an animal.
Haven’t dug into draft much yet, but is there a place on this team for Roquan Smith? He is a 10 year MLB type to me.
if we are drafting a CB in the top 10 its got to be Minkah. He's the best DB in the country. I like Roquan a ton... Curious to his testing numbers. Agree on not taking a WR R1... Tons of great value in R2/R3. Really love Burnett and DJ Moore. If you are looking for a big WR Auden Tate.
Lol, Bears need to go after college assistants that aTm didn't even want. No way the McKaskey's pockets can compete with the G7.
I don’t know how you can’t be excited by the developments in the last week. Everyone has raved about Nagy and the new OL coach and keeping Fangio was huge. This feeling of excitement as a Bears fan is unchartered territory.
Um... am I missing something? I didn't hear anything about Fangio agreeing to come back. Just heard reports that him sticking around is likelier
The Bears are about to be a "college-y" as it gets. Heistand is such a double edged sword. He's awesome but I'd rather him at ND than Chicago for fan purposes.
I'm very pleased with this. Everyone was drooling over Deshaun Watson and if you watch his highlights, a ton of those big plays come from run/pass option stuff. Trubisky did that a ton in college, I think Nagy is going to be great for him.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, at least it will be fun to watch. If they draft well on O and Fangio sticks around this could be a really fun team.
I don't expect Fangio to stick... My guess is they want a new staff top to bottom. I'm a fan of the new hires and the new OC taking some Oregon concepts and sprinkling them in with MT10 is going to be fantastic. I expect a huge year from Cohen next season,.
I’m still leery of the Helfrich hire, but at least it’ll be something different. Wish he’d have some NFL experience.
Yeah, duh you’re right, just read that yesterday. Thanks for reminding me, feeling better about it again.
Of the coordinators, Helfrich is the least consequential but I understand wanting someone with more NFL experience. Like that he helped develop Mariota who played in a system similar to Trubisky
