You know it's a rough year when Fox out of South Bend elects to show the Lions over the Bears, at least the Lions are getting killed.
Jaylon Johnson has more picks in the last 10 minutes than he did in his entire career coming into this game
Not anymore painful than watching Justin get sacked a dozen times and miss reads. Hopefully they let Bagent take some shots if he has to keep starting.
We live in hell. Lose when we want to win. Win when we want need to lose. They kept the QB in bubble wrap so we learn nothing about him.
Starting to think the same. I was fully on board the Caleb train but the more info/data/tape that comes out, I'm less sure.
Serious question because it's not a "they" scaring me. It's what I'm seeing with my own eyes and then seeing the data afterwards. What makes you so confident when what he's showing on the actual field isn't "generational" at all this year?
they’re going to take a qb, it’s just that williams isn’t the once in a generation prospect he was billed as before the season. Doesn’t mean he may not turn out to be a pro bowl qb
His ability to make all throws with velocity and accuracy hasn't changed. He's able to throw off platform and when scrambling he's able to keep his eyes up field and make throws that I haven't seen since Mahomes was at Tech. Those things don't change because he's had two bad games. He doesn't go from being so talented that he can force an NFL to move out the top pick if he doesn't want to play for them to well the #1 pick isn't a big deal anymore just because PFF throws out some stat to go with a narrative that currently is getting clicks.
I'm sensitive to the idea of pushing a narrative that's getting clicks, I get that. But it's not just one random stat. He's come up small over and over agian when it matters. At some point you have to start questioning if it's the pressure or if increased talent/opponents just don't let him get away with the stuff bad teams do. That talent/coaching definitely isn't getting easier in the NFL. Kinda on the fence, don't know what to think at this point
If you felt he was generational before the ND game nothing since changes that...Two bad games doesn't erase what he's put on film since high school... Maye is also a fantastic prospect he was every bit as good as Williams when it comes to arm talent he's just not going to give you that scramble sizzle that Williams brings so the media has largely ignored him. I would be fine with either. It's very similar to the Lawrence/Fields debate we had a few years back.
All of Williams highlights are off platform throws. That stuff doesn’t consistently work in the pros. We have a qb that holds onto the ball and runs around with a big arm already. Give me a qb that gets the ball out on time with accuracy. Also is it going to shock anyone if he gets measured at the combine and is closer to 6’ than 6’1? Again not saying he won’t be a good or even great qb but compared to burrow or luck, I don’t see someone that is a slam dunk prospect.
I don't get the "come up small over and over agian" He lost two games as a true freshman both on the road to top 10 teams... Last year they lost three games... His offense put up 42 and 45 points in two of them. The other he played on one leg against Utah in the title game. This year you can put the ND game on his shoulders but his team put up 32 against a very good Utah defense... I mean some context about how awful that USC defense is probably needed. Also factor is he's not throwing to elite WRs like Harrision or Egbuke. USC isn't without talent at WR but most those guys aren't going top 100 in the draft. He's not without flaws, I don't think any prospect that was thought of as generational has come out into the NFL flawless. But his elite skills are special. He needs to work on staying in the pocket and not scrambling into pressure trying to make a special play. But those are fixable issues. This isn't a problem with processing speed and reading defense.
I'm going to answer this and then exit the conversation because it seems like i'm just being a fan boy... When you need to find such a narrow stat to show a flaw... c'mon man. 1st what is "total" defense, who were these teams? I'm going to assume those Utah teams would be included, are they counting the game he played on one leg and clearly had no business being on the field?
small sample... but... Just need to pray Jenkins can stay healthy. Just need to fix the C and maybe OT spot next year.
Big Tev’s a beast when he actually plays. I saw on twitter that Wright basically played one handed all game because of his left shoulder and he held Crosby to 4 hurries and a sack. Not bad for game 7.
Schefter or someone this morning said they were looking for a 2nd but a third was the best offer they’d gotten. Hope that’s still the case.
We’ve found our #2 QB at least Refs need to call another hold on us, we’re getting close to scoring again
Hey so is it just me or can Bagent kinda sorta make some really good throws? Like yeah he doesn't look like Brady back there but some of those passes were nice. Tight windows, showed he actually has an arm, etc. Also fuck Velus
Need to trade Fields and roll with this guy until you get QB1 next year. Fields seems to have no personality, wonder how much he’s really “respected”
