And I wonder if he did that because he’s got a deal lined up to get a 2nd for JJ. Not sure unlike that trade off.
Yeah I don't get this. If we're in our competitive window it's understandable; if your 2nd rounder develops into a player like Sweat I'd be happy. This isn't like Claypool where there were question marks. We also have a dire need at DE. But... we're not in our window. Hell, we're closer to restarting it with another QB in 6 months. Why give up the rookie deal+control? Hopefully we at least extended him but he'll be 30 by the time we're hopefully perennial contenders. Given our track record we need these high picks cause we're guaranteed to whiff. I hate how pessimistic this franchise has made me.
Interesting. I get he's been hurt but he is better and younger than Sweat. Guess the reports of Poles not being sold on his health were true. It also does make me think he's negotiating from a position of weakness; at this point we don't NEED Sweat, he doesn't put us over anything. But a few extra wins makes Poles look good. Our 2nd will be high just like the Claypool trade, while the 49ers third probably won't be. Feel like we got played again.
I think this deal would suggest Poles thinks this roster is closer than we think it is to competing. I don't hate this deal like I did with Claypool. I would also suggest this is probably a sign that Fields will return next year but the staff wont... But after the media narrative on Monday who really knows...
I think it was Big Ant that said after that game that Young had the most selfish and worst edge performances he can remember grading. Between that and the health/physical stuff I’m fine with staying away. Still not sure about this Sweat move until I see the new contract and what happens with JJ.
1 career interception? Did you watch the game last week or....? He's also 24 and a top 3 coverage CB in the NFL according to PFF.
At least make an effort? You don’t trade that high of a pick for a player unless you’ve talked to his agent and know what he wants
I don't know why the fuck we were interested in the first place We keep trading valuable picks for guys that cost much more than a draft pick and expect them to be as productive Our team morale is fucking dog shit. Nobody wants to be traded here, Poles, you dumb bitch Build a foundation and then trade. Right now we're a prison sentence
come the fuck on... 43 games 1 INT. He should thank the lord he played against a washed backup QB so he could pad those stats.
add another reason to why flus and this staff should all be fired. McCaskey is such a fucking bitch for not allowing his GM to fire coaches during the season.
Stop for a moment and think about who's leaking this info... It's pretty clear this isn't coming from Poles...
Poles is terrible but there's 0.0% chance he's terrible enough to trade a 2nd round pick when they're 2-6 for an expiring contract that he's not 100% certain they're going to extend. right?
Poles has made some questionable moves but its on the talent evaluation side. I think he made the right call to ship out Smith and replace him with the LBs this off-season. From what I understand his team has a program that gives him a player value model and he's been very disciplined not to go over that value. We saw it with Smith a couple FA targets and now JJ.
You seem to be pretty educated to the game, even if he doesn't sign a long term extension before the season ends, the Bears can Franchise or Transition tag him. He's going to be a Bear next season and hopefully they work out a long extension at some point.
Jenkins is another good player who’s gonna come up soon and it’s going to be a bad look for the franchise.
well he can take his cap flexibility to the unemployment line when the team sucks again because he keeps not signing good players.
Yep, nobody gets a pass when we’re going through one of the worst stretches in a long history of bad stretches. Poles may end of being great….hes gonna need to win some football games first.
Yeah it’s gonna be awesome watching a franchise like the Eagles or 49ers turn him into a Pro Bowler while we watch Caleb Williams get murdered every week. Sell the team.
Somewhere in the Diggs range isn't far off from what he's gonna get, imo. Diggs got $19.4 AAV, I think JJ gets 15-17
An early second round pick and 98 million dollars over 4 years for Montez Sweat is ass. DEs making more money AAV than Sweat: Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa, TJ Watt. That's the list. None also came with a cost of a high 2nd round pick. EDIT: Myles Garrett is 5 years 125 mil. Point stands.
I’ll wait till the exact numbers come out. If it’s front loaded and has some fake money on the back end it could be ok.
