Let him eat some turkey as an employed man. fire him first thing tomorrow morning. I better be waking up to news that I never have to watch him blow a winnable game ever again.
33 secs on the clock when he was sacked. 26 by the time he got to his feet. Head coach has to call that timeout immediately once he took that sack. It’s inexcusable.
He says in the post game press conference they wanted the ball snapped by 18 seconds. So when it wasn’t, why did he allow the clock to run down further? He’s a fucking idiot.
Jesus that stat and the one about Eberflus in one score games. Just brutal. He needs to just go back to being a really good defensive coordinator.
People talking about “Poles needs to hit on this coaching hire”….. why? what has he done to show he’s the guy to make the decision? fire him too. he elected to keep eberflus over a laundry list of guys we’d kill to have coaching the bears right now
Did he though? The problem with keeping him is the ability to attract good candidates as they will be afraid he’ll be fired next year. That said, this is a pretty good roster. You can’t look at those stats and the upside and not be excited if you are a coach who wants to do something in this league.
I think the prospect of coaching caleb will definitely open doors to guys who otherwise wouldnt consider us. don’t know about the rest of the roster. Outside of JJ there’s no other player I’d say is a “special” type of player. handful of good players, but if we land one of the big names in the off season, it will be because of caleb. George McCaskey and Ryan Poles have shown repeatedly they are maybe the worst two in their respective positions in the nfl.
I wouldn’t sign up to coach the bears with a GM that’s on the fritz. He’s a negative not a positive. Caleb is the guy that someone might believe in to sign up to coach.
I didn’t say it was a positive, I said the roster and possibilities with Caleb would overcome that for many surely.
I can’t imagine working under McCaskey and Poles is an enticing situation. you need to get rid of Poles along with Eberflus. won’t happen because the organization just doesn’t make good decisions, but that’s what needs to happen. I better see news of eberflus’ firing on my timeline by the time I eat lunch. Get him outta here.
Eberflus has his regularly scheduled press conference in 15 minutes. he can’t possibly…I mean….is it possible he actually steps to the podium in 15 minutes?
Poles is not the worst GM in the league. That’s a fucking insane take. He’s owed a legit HC hire. I think that’s exactly what will happen this offseason.
It started. For all the shit being talked, at the end of the day George McCaskey runs this team and nothing will change with that moron at the helm.
There is nothing he can do short of replacing eberflus today, going undefeated against some of the best teams in the nfl to end the season, and completely winning over the roster. it won’t happen and he won’t be the coach. Let’s be real. We have a #1 pick to develop, they aren’t handing the keys to Brown.
Well the reality is that the McCaskey family generally don’t fire coaches easily, that is a big plus for any coach no matter what the dynamics are around it. Yes there are issues (Poles potentially getting canned next year being one) but the positives for any coach worth their salt are there. We are a dumpster but it is often about our hires rather than the people who want the job. There are only 32 of them and even worse run franchises like the Jets will have a lot of eager candidates. The issue who the owners will hire, not the potential candidates who would want the job. What are the realistic jobs at this stage? Jets Jaguars Saints Bears Giants Cowboys Perhaps the Browns? I’m sure there will be more, perhaps a contender (Eagles if they flunk in the playoffs). A current contender is the only ones I’d be really concerned about in terms of all of those jobs. Everyone on the list has one of or a combination of issues including organisational dysfunction, poor roster or a big QB issue. The issue is who the Bears will hire, not who could want that job. If Ben J wants a job, he is unlikely to get much better than the Bears (aside from if someone like the Eagles came open).
You'd take a journeyman coach and make him the head coach because of a half year of mid production from the #1 draft pick? That's not even getting into the idea that he'd no longer be working as closely with Williams (assuming he is now). I think if they continue to show progress as the year goes along , he'd be a great option to be kept on as OC (a promotion for him) by the new HC
Back channel put together a perfect staff of assistants and convey a winning vision for the roster/organization. Show a plan of utilizing the WR's and how to round out the rest of the depth chart (who are you asking to do the dirty work?) Would need to be more big picture stuff than the offense putting up 30 points a game.
Should have let Hightower take over HC duties. Not a fan of moving Brown out of the booth when that seems to be working.
Every staff should have a respected elder that they can hand the whistle to in a situation like this instead of putting it on Brown
