Kinda unfair to Brown. He's apparently been interviewed for HC positions by 3 teams and is highly thought of. He's also only late 30s and was assistant HC when the Rams won their title.

Honestly this is a shit way to treat Eberflus. He made his fuck ups and deserved to go but shouldn’t have been wheeled out in a charade this morning because George was humming and hawing.

Maybe, but we're talking about a guy who didn't even have a real coordinator job coming into this year

Short of running the table, I don't see they could justify the next HC coming from the current staff.

Not that it's saying much but he was coordinator for the hurricanes for a couple years and coordinator and play caller for the Panthers when Reich gave up play calling.

I'm not saying hire him but if he overperforms the rest of the season, it'd be dumb to overlook him as an option.

after yesterday and the doubling down in his PC he definitely deserved to be humiliated. what happened yesterday was a "fall on your sword" moment and he owned nothing about it.

He has to be viewed as the odds on favorite.

only problem is that Detroit is going to make a deep playoff run

I did the airplane mode trick and the only new information is Jayden being extremely pissed off and apparently calling out the coaching staff in the post game meeting, after which Eberflus removed himself from the locker room. Which is big news, don't get me wrong, but the rest of the article is a synopsis of all the mismanagement from earlier (the hail Mary, Flus not taking accountability for multiple time mismanagement, etc) Everyone knows he lost the locker room weeks ago.

    Edit. Try this

The part about the pure progression scheme. I remember Warner and Tim Jenkins both said Waldron was psychotic asking a rookie to do that off the bat. Then he also wanted him to call out the protections as well as make checks at the line (while never getting the play call in until less than 10 on the play clock). They bring in Allen so Caleb has a veteran to lean on, Allen goes to Flus telling him the OC is going to ruin this kid, and Flus completely ignores it. It’s so damning.

if the GM isn’t allowed to fire the coach after the NE game what makes the fanbase think he was going to be allowed to fire him last offseason.

George still runs this team. The coward is just putting layers in front of him so the media and fans don’t curse him out

Ben Johnson is not leaving the Lions to coach the bears. Has far better opportunities if he wants to leave and be successful.

never said that. But he can hand pick who he wants to go to, and will pick best opportunity for him to succeed (if he even wants to go). He sure as hell ain’t leaving to go coach in the division for a bottom feeder team with no chance of winning division any time soon.

Cincy feels like a better job if Taylor is let go. As good as Williams can be, I’d much rather coach Burrow

Eh I kinda think Cincy is at the end of their window tbh. Their ownership has zero interest in doing what it takes to keep that core together and the defense isn’t exactly good as currently constructed. I can’t imagine they’ll be better when they lose Hendrickson and Higgins this offseason.

I’d totally understand if Ben Johnson didn’t leave Detroit for the bears, but Albert breer did say he heard he was holding out for the bears opening last offseason and I don’t think someone like breer would just say that if it wasn’t true.

The bears will fuck it up anyways, there was a report this morning that they’re eyeing kingsbury because of course they are

    Where?

    Giants
    Cowboys
    Jaguars
    Saints
    Jets
    Bears

    Which is the best job?

Sure the Bengals, Eagles or someone else by surprise might come up, but which job from the above is better than the Bears?

Vrabel doesn’t make sense to me to be on that list. 1 the mcCaskeys would hate his personality. 2 I don’t see any way he isn’t coaching Cle/OSU next year.

Kliff continues to prove his offenses hit a wall mid season. Wouldn’t like that at all.

Outside of Arians (and he took over because of a health emergency) has an interim that gets hired been successful? I’m not sure.

The Bengals should be firing the GM not the HC. They shit the bed a few years ago when they had like 15 draft picks. Nearly all were big whiffs.

That’s probably the only opening that’s a better roster than Chicago. But they will have a lame duck GM and so I don’t think a Ben Johnson would want a job like that.

Now Vrabel makes a ton of sense there. He’s probably good enough a defensive coach to fix that side quickly as the offense keeps its core.

    Kingsbury would be peak dysfunction

Didn’t want him as your OC, but want him as your “leader of men” head coach one year later

Maybe Glenn is the guy in that case. Either way I think the roster composite will require them to go with defensive head coach that can elevate above the talent because the bengals will have a ton of cash tied into Joe, Chase and Tee.

Just a hunch here, but I think it’s going to end up being Kingsbury if Johnson says no.

Kinda get the feeling he might even be offered the job over Johnson.

Do you think Flus had 100% say in the OC hire? That’s where Kingsbury doesn’t make sense. Poles didn’t think he was good enough to be an OC but now he’s ready to attach his job to him?

Kingsbury flamed out on his first go around. He was passed over here when the obvious connection with Caleb was in place. I’m sure the media will run will with that connection but as you mentioned we passed on him once. He was awful in his first chance at the big gig. I think he’s just a basic fan and media darling.

I would look at Poles connection in KC and around the league. I could see a Andy Reid guy getting a serious look
