The twitter types all seem to think Dalman/Mack are both essentially done. Those guys are always flinging crap at the wall so who knows.
Will Fries was seen eating lunch in town with Bates today. Wouldn’t think he’d be in play but after the last decade+ sign all the linemen imo.
I get a strange feeling the agents are leveraging us… now your getting these reports with hedging about how close we were to other players only to get out bid at the last moment. they are former teammates at PSU and great friends. Unless he’s coming in to compete at C or willing to take backup money I don’t see how Fries makes sense in Chicago
Devine saying he “heard all morning Chi backed off of Mack” and said it’s because “they’re trying to make Hendrickson work”. No real source for either statement though so I’m sure he’s making it up.
He’s been extremely bullish on them making that trade so not really shocking that’s the narrative he’s pushing
The gm hates having to compete for good players who hit free agency and that’s the tax for the workaround
Wonder if it’s best to chill for a day or 2 now and then try to get a bargain at DE, DT, and a 3rd WR.
You can get bargains in the 4-7 rounds of the draft too... Gotta start drafting there more often instead of trading for Ryan Bates and shit
Seems like we don't have the cash to play in the A tier of free agents outside of Dalman... Shit we don't have the money to splash on the B level of free agents with Mack. I'm very happy with the new OL and feel they wont need to spend a top 50 selection on the line. They can look grab a IOL and maybe OT in round 3 and beyond. I can't see us doing much with the defensive line either in free agency. I would expect two of the three top 50 selections to be Edge and DT. A trade back at 10 seems like the best route... I saw a the Bengals might move 17 and 58 to get to 10... Allows us to take Peace at 17. It would probably take us out of the Graham market but given his athletic traits I don't think Poles would draft him anyways. He definitely has an athletic profile he targets on the defensive line. We shall see how the draft plays out. Feels like a heavy play for DL at this point. Justin Fields is a deeply flawed QB... Its ok to let go now.
The Steelers had a good OL last year, Pickens at WR, a pair of solid TEs and good running backs... He was benched for Russell Wilson. Bears fans who still cap for Fields need to take the L...
Jackson and thuney are both primarily left guards. It wouldn’t shock me to see them go line at 10. Maybe they think Membou can play LT. Maybe they see him as an elite right guard.
1. Art Smith was his OC 2. Calling that OL "good" is a stretch. They were pretty mediocre. He had multiple bombs called back because of holding. 3. He lead them to a 4-2 record as a starter with 10 TDs and 1 INT. 4. The two losses were 3 point games and in one of one of them he was simply magnificent.
congrats to Justin for finally passing Gardner minshew to become the 21st highest paid qb in the league. I’m sure he’ll do great with the Jets
The guys on his 3rd team in 6 years and we’re really having this talk? Mike Tomlin is a pretty good coach, if he doesn’t want you somethings wrong.
Wonder what Bosa will go for? I think a legit pass rusher is more of what we need but Odeyingbo is more what Allen likes.
Feel like the third WR is going to be either Tim Patrick or Josh Reynolds with their connections with Ben Johnson
Thuney and Jackson will be the starting guards. I think our starting OL is set in place... Jones Thuney Dalman Jackson Wright Bates will be a swing IOL and Kiran will be the swing OT... Probably take a kid in R3 or after to develop.
you are probably correct but I think that’s a mistake. Jackson is basically on a one year deal and misses a lot of games.
I’m still for trading down and adding OL/DL/RB help, they’ve signed a couple of vets to bridge the gap and we’ll have amazing depth in the trenches. Seems like maybe just maybe the Bears might do this right.
