Live Eichenberg in R2 Also wouldn’t mind a WR. Much as I love Moore, pass on any undersized gadget guys that Nagy will find a way to misuse
I am a little irrational with this pick perhaps, but I believe Fields is going to be the best QB in this class and be to Chicago what Russ Wilson is to Seattle.
I’m leery on Fields, he couldn’t beat out Fromm at UGA and got dumped into maybe the best college QB machine in CFB history. Ohio State has such a great run scheme, so much talent, and plays at such an advantage against their conference that I’ll wait before I call Fields a “can’t miss prospect”.
Don't be. Fields is absolutely legit. He also beat Clemson's ass last year. It wasn't just the trash B1G.
OSU is a machine, as a Michigan fan I get this. he played the QB position at a different level than the guys before him in that machine.
Our scheme changed pretty fundamentally once Ryan Day became OC. We still ran zone read with Barrett his first year and we’re still trying to run Meyer’s offense in 2018 as if Tim Tebow was our QB instead of Dwayne Haskins. After five games in 2018, Day took control and Haskins threw for 400+ in five games and missed a sixth with 396 against Michigan. In 2019, we started running the ball effectively with some of the elements Day used under Chip Kelly and abandoned zone read completely. It opened up a downfield passing attack much more.
I mean law of averages OSU has to have a good NFL QB at some point…..same with the Bears, we’ve got to have a good NFL QB at some point. It’s a match made in heaven.
Dont over think it. Look at his accuracy, his arm strength, his intelligence, his speed and athleticism, his toughness. The only thing to question is how we got so lucky to get him.
I really can’t explain the few really bad games he had, but overall he was pretty exceptional. Unlike Haskins, he didn’t really have bubble routes to throw and actually attacked down the field. I really hope he succeeds.
He's the best downfield thrower I've ever seen and I'm an internet message board user, so that saying something.
Really hoping someone falls and we can trade back a bit. Get a OT, WR, then the best Edge/Secondary player left.
So let Dalton die behind Leno next year then find a LT in FA and Fields should have a solid line in front of him foe when he takes over.
Hmm, Eichenberg just went, that’s one I was hoping would still be around at 52. Still don’t like giving away picks all the time.
I'm feeling pretty optimistic about the draft. Maybe I'm naive but I've been really happy with both the moves so far.
They crushed this draft. It’s cost them a good amount of future capital but they nailed the picks. They have a 5 and three 6th round picks tomorrow. Could see them moving a couple of those 6s to get into the 4th.
Don’t think anyone would go for that, especially with the lack of depth this class has. Maybe we could package 3 6th and next years 5th for a 4th.
Dazz Newsome is a good get Certainly more exciting than Wims or Ridley He will probably be used like Patterson minus the RB part
CBS was impressed 217. Bears, Khalil Herbert, RB, Virginia Tech Grade: A- Bouncy, contact-balance monster who can piece together multiple cuts to make defenders miss. Lacks long speed. No clue how he was still available. Nice RB depth for Chicago. 221. Bears: Dazz Newsome, WR, North Carolina Grade: A Sudden, return specialist who's skills there translate into the slot. Separates and is dynamic after the catch. Speed allows him to power through tackle attempts. Some drops on film. 228. Bears, Thomas Graham Jr., CB, Oregon Grade: A+ Not the biggest nor the most athletic, but always around the football. Elite ball production in college and plays bigger than his size at the catch point. Serious zone instincts. 250. Bears, Khyiris Tonga, DL, BYU Grade: B- Another athletic nose tackle. Rushes are high but powerful enough to displace interior blockers on a relatively routine basis. Just slower footed and doesn't have a reliable pass-rush move arsenal.
