That Jimmy Eat World song going to break was the best part of this game so far. I don’t anticipate the bears doing anything to top that, but we’ll see I guess
Teams fucking soft from the top down. I don’t care if we get an offensive coach or a defensive coach but they better have a physical mentality
Oh my god sad Andy dalton walking gingerly (pun intended) off the field in the shitty weather after getting absolute blown up by a sack and then having to come right back on the field due to roughing the kicker penalty and subsequently throwing a hilarious pick is the bears season personified. And fuck off, I know that was a run on sentence
If Pace is kicked upstairs the next GM will have a massive amount of payroll he can play with, some players he can restructure or trade for draft capital as well. Basically he get's a roster with a shit ton of flexibility with most of the long term money wrapped up in young and or good players. Now do I want Pace to be the guy who gets to select the next GM and be part of the next HC.... not really. But let's be honest about the topic and the people who have made those choices in the past aren't going anywhere and have proven to be dogshit. I don't think Pace has been dogshit, I also don't think he's been great but we could be and have been in worse hands. Once Pace missed on Mitch the writing was on the wall for this core. Had Mitch been the guy your looking at this massive amount of space with a stud QB in pace and are beyond excited. Basically were back to square one and hope that Fields is everything we think he can be.
So fucking dumb. I hate the McCaskeys. Pace has been selling the future for the present for years now... he might not have done that if George told him he's safe and to always do what's best for the franchise.
When has Pace not been ultra aggressive in the draft? I don't believe he's ever traded down on day 1 or in the top 2 rounds of the draft. I don't think the McCaskey's giving him a vote of confidence would impact who he is as GM.
Pace is dogshit. He paid Mike Glennon a boatload of money, negotiating against no other teams, and then does the same shit with Dalton. He is insecure and incapable of patiently waiting for good value. Always trades up for overpays.
False. We were reminded during the telecast yesterday that he traded down in the 2nd so the Cardinals could draft Budda Baker. And that genius Pace was still able to land his guy Shaheen.
The Dalton move still blows my mind. He was making $5million in Dallas and we doubled his salary. Who were we bidding against?
I would think he is very slightly better than Foles. But not enough to justify having both of them on roster. But I guess when you’re paying Foles $8 million a year, this is the kind of trouble you get into.
When fucking nobody was going to do that. Jags would've cut him and he could've been had for a much lower salary, but bimbo Ryan got nervous and traded for him
Yessir. And looking at the numbers, it looks like we were bidding against ourselves to pay Dalton more than Foles to be QB1. This organization needs to be cleaned out.
It doesn't matter. The Bears don't have leverage. Foles was a total failure, Mitch was gone. They won enough games that landing a stud prospect in the draft was largely thought of as impossible. You have a coach and GM on the hot seat and in a win at all cost mode because if they don't they are likely shit canned. Not everything is about who they bid against.
had they not overpaid Dalton they could have used that money so they didn’t have kindle vildor watching guys run into the end zone
People are justified to be pissed at Pace, sure he's had some terrible contracts and terrible picks. He's also nailed some picks and landed some good free agents. He's average to below average and he should be fired. With that said I don't give a shit about the Dalton money, I'm fine with it given they HAD to bring in a QB and doing it via the draft wasn't a possibility. The money that should've been used to retain Fuller was from fucking Jimmy Graham. The deal to Danny T also cost us when it came to retaining one of our OTs. Speaking of OTs it seems like Borom could be a legit OT. Let's hope Jenkins get's some action this year.
I mean, they did bring in a QB from the draft so I think it’s disingenuous to say that wasn’t a possibility.
No front office is going to roll the dice on a 10% shot at landing a top kid. The Bears had a perfect storm of stupidity that unfolded for them to be able to land Fields.
I feel like the packers/Rodgers are in playing with their food mode with the bears at this point. I think it’ll be a comparable game to the first one with the bears maybe scoring a few less points. Packers are supposedly getting their defensive studs back and have been playing way better in general since the first game. I don’t think Rodgers is interested in putting up 50 points though when he can exert minimal effort and win by a comfortable 17.
Just came to post this, they said Lance called the LaRussa hiring for the Sox early too. I damn sure hope he’s right
