Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Rumors on the net that olin and the 9ers are in serious talks and Olsen is on the trading block.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I request a thread title change to Psst Jerry wake up, the lockouts over
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Losing Olin would be a huge fail. Olsen on the other hand...bye
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I side the other way. Olin is average at best, his only plus is his leadership. Olsen on the other hand is a young talented TE. If they're trading him based on martz it's a dumb move, martz wont be here more than this season and next.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans It lists spencer lanning as a long shot... You havent signed any other punters and spencer turned down offers from other teams because he was told he can basically walk into the punters job unless he botches camp
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Ark-They're likely going to sign drew weatherford from illinois.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Adam Schefter Bears reached agreement with former Jaguars punter Adam Podlesh on a five-year contract.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Olin has lost a step but he's still in the top half of centers. More importantly, he knows the offense which is very important. The TE isn't much of a factor in the Martz offense and the TE needs to be able to block in the Martz offense. Tight ends like Olsen are a dime a dozen
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans The reason trading Olson is stupid is because the return will probably be a 4th round pick. He's much, much more valuable to the Bears than what he'll get in return.... and they're shopping him anyway.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Angelo's plan is going perfect so far. Don't sign a difference maker at WR, let your center walk, have you targeted DE get poached out from under you, trade your best TE for nothing.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Olin isn't going to walk, and I would have been pissed if they'd overpaid for a 31 year old's best year ever The rest of it sucks balls
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Durant is off ther market as well. Glad all of their first choices are gone.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Not even convinced Durant is an upgrade over Roach. All that really matters is the line. Jermon Bushrod is dicksauce, so pray they don't sign him.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Bushrod isn't great but he's better than Webb who was the worst pass blocking right tackle in football last year.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans He was 14th worst pass blocking LT in football last year, Omiyale was the 4th, according this this, which is a decent basic formula. So I guess it's an upgrade, but still. http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/06/13/2010-pass-blocking-efficiency-tackles/
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans He was 17 of 30 so about average maybe a little below. That's an upgrade.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Im cool with trading Olsen if we sign 2 wrs, I bet we'll only get Roy Williams.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Olsen was average at best, still am not happy with the Bears lack of signings
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Saying we got dan conner for Olsen, conner play olb or mlb?
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I am questioning whether or not this organization has a plan at this point.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Thought he was in the middle for Carolina. Maybe the Bears think he can play strong? With his injury history I doubt he holds up.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I agree, I have no idea what they are doing. I think the Bears are headed towards a 5-11 season.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I see them signing Roy Williams and a lineman. Maybe a back up linebacker.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Braylon Edwards, Lenard Davis, a DT, and a LB tomorrow.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans You guys really think olsen wasn't more valuable than the 3rd we got for him? Just to review recent bears 3rds- henry melton, earl bennett, jarron gilbert. Fucking awful trade
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans He was definitely one of our top 3 receivers, not a great trade but better than the 5th I was expecting.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Bennet is better than Olsen and I think Melton is going to have a pretty good year. He looked solid as a pass rushing DT last year when he got in. There are still a lot of good players in the 3rd round to be had if you make the right pick. Briggs and Berrian were both 3rd round picks. People need to get over Olsen he had 1 game over 50 yards and 0 multi-TD games last regular season. Plus the Martz offense doesn't use the tight end as a pass catcher. They either run two tight ends and no full back or they spread it out with 4 or 5 wide. That is why its so important the Bears go out and sign at least 2 lineman tomorrow. If they come away with Bushrod and Colon I'll feel a lot better.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Considering when the Bears tried to trade Olsen last year that the market was either a 5th or a 6th round pick a 3rd rounder is pretty good.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Dude, willie colon and bushrod have now both already resigned with their teams. Market getting thin
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans The Chiefs released G Brian Waters tonight. He's 34, but still a solid option. Get on it Angelo.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I 100% agree with you BUT This team is not suited to run a Martz style offense. Olsen's lack of production is not because of lack of talent. I'm not here to bash the coaches or the system, but there is no way you can look at this team and say it suits Martz. Our line is so terrible I'd be surprised if Cutler makes it through the next full season. Has everyone forgotten that it doesn't matter how fast your receivers are or WHO they are if your QB can't stay upright long enough to get them the ball? Olsen was our best receiver after Knox, unfortunately, and considering the god awful drafts we've had, it just seems like he was worth more to us than that. It's true he was useless in Martz's offense. I'm just angry that it seems like we have no real plan. If you are going 100% into this, why not assemble a Martz team? Splurge, get the O Line we need and then it won't matter if Olsen is here. Now, it seems like a repeat of last season except you lost another weapon on offense, and unless someone steps up I'm just confused as to where we're going. Olin is important to us. He has lost a step but he still has the crazy Hawaiian stare that makes me wonder if he even knows what play we're running.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I am not excited about this upcoming season if nothing ends up happening tomorrow. We need to get that OL figured out.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans Olsen is average. If he wasnt a first round pick nobody would give a shit about the guy. He didnt do shit under Turner or Martz. Hes just an average TE.
Re: Official thread of non-gay NFC North fans I'd peg him as slightly above average. I just thought he was tight with Cutler.
