I am hearing on the radio now they were asked why Hoiberg is still coach and they said because he's under contract
We need new ownership. If Jerry and his son understood a rebuild is going to take place you can't give Gar/Pax another shot at it. You needed to fire those guys and put a new FO in place to do this sell off.
Keep in mind we traded away our 2nd round pick next year to acquire Cameron Payne who may not play a single minute next year. This FO has such vision
So I'm not that mad about the trade. Hope they let Levine rehab for a good long while, trade/buyout Wade. Could end up with a top 3 pick next year.
I mean... it's sad that the positives we're finding in this trade are just side effects of giving away Butler
Levine could be good and who knows about the guy they took at 7. The problem is the guys making the picks going forward and the guy coaching the players. Have a feeling after the Bulls win 24 games next year hoiberg and Gar get fired
This won't happen when they have the highest attendance rate in the league. People need to stop showing up for ownership to give a shit.
I like the deal. I'm high on Markannen and Dunn. LaVine is whatever. Think they tried to get Brooklyn picks for few years from Celts but Ainge didn't budge. Idea of getting Wiggins back was absurd. Stuck in basketball purgatory lately and Jimmy isn't enough to overcome that (plus LeBron) Raps in same conundrum. Should probably sell high on DeRozan. Wolfs will be fun to watch.
KC Johnson confirms on WSCR that this was the best deal available. Made it seem like nothing else was even close. Pretty clear the perception of Butler's value was significantly higher than reality.
KC is a org mouthpiece and this deal is shit. The whole FO and ownership is awful and we're going to be bad for a very long time.
KC never has a bad word to say about the Bulls. As for Butler, that might be true, but they probably could have gotten more in return previously.
Jason Goff said multiple sources told him they were close with Phoenix and then started asking for players they had no chance of getting
Maybe so. And they have been roundly (and rightly) bashed throughout. I still think his perceived value has been way overblown. Either way, they had to ship him out. He has been logging crazy minutes and was due for a monster deal in two years. He's a nice secondary or tertiary piece on a contender. Good luck to him.
Someone mentioned this in the NBA draft thread but its spot on... Had this been a new FO making this deal they would look at it with a better narrative. But its the same old fucking FO. With that said I really hate that we are about to go on another long rebuild and its Gar/Pax leading the way. I've never seen ownership this loyal to a front office that has produced zero results.
There's nothing wrong with trading Butler and looking to rebuild. It's a smart move instead of clinging on to mediocrity. The whole thing about this was the best package that was offered is a bit hard to believe. Part of that is I think Garpax are so out of touch, Im sure their asks were absurd, which probably cause a bunch of teams to just say fuck it. If it were a new FO, I think we get a better return because they're probably starting for a more reasonable starting point.
I also dont get the idea of selling a second round pick for cash. What value is $3.5mm to the f'ing Bulls? Even if you dont think you have a roster spot getting a free look at someone would be worth it even if he doesn't make the team.
Read something earlier that the money Golden St used was from championship hat sales, so technically they got a huge steal without spending any of their own money. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba...m-do-it/ar-BBD3EUN?li=BBgET5V&ocid=spartanntp
