The returns on these trades are giving me hope for when the bigger guns are moved. Kimbrel is the big deal. Can’t fuck that one up.
The talk about taking on Hosmers contract now for prospects is interesting. Abrams would have to be one of the prospects for a deal like that.
Yes, Alcantara is talented but it might be a few years before he is at the big league level. Cubs have done a nice job adding talent thus far
Alcantra has the tools to be a a very good player but like someone else said it will be a few years if he pans out. Everything I’ve read on the pitcher is that he is projected to be a solid bullpen arm possibly. If he can develop that breaking ball possibly a backend starter.
I can't believe we've heard essentially nothing on Kimbrel at this point. Bryant I get because I think they're looking for too much in return for him but Kimbrel has got to be dealt to somebody and there's been nothing out there at all at this point.
Of course they can but it makes absolutely no sense to. He’s been the best closer in baseball this year and could be a train wreck next year. You have to sell when he’s at highest value which is right now.
well ya if someone gives you what you want. Like you said he’s the best closer in baseball, don’t give him away just because he may be shitty next year.
the Nick Madrigal with a career big league OPS+/wRC+ of 114 while playing middle infield, who is 24, and has 6 years of control left? that Nick Madrigal, or like a different one I don't know about.
any time you can trade the top reliever on the market into a light hitting, off injured middle infielder you have to do it
I agree that anytime you can trade a reliever you won't need at all next year for what will likely turn into an above average big league 2B/borderline all-star with 6 years of control you did a great job.
Today was a bit of a disaster. When you trade all but one of your best players and the best reliver on the market, you should feel like you've set your franchise up for success in 2-3 years. I'm not sure the Cubs added a single difference maker today.
