I like his walk-up song. Javy has a good one. I respect La Stella's walk up song the most though. Like he lost a bet or something. Balls of steel that guy has.
Not a fan of Arrieta pitching the 7th or 8th or hitting in the 8th. What's the point of an 8 man bullpen?
I didn't understand him hitting in the 8th and not coming out to pitch the 9th but with a 6 run lead whatever. Still probably would've pinch hit for him there with runners on the corners though.
Love Baez' glove so much. Our best lineup defensively has him in the infield and Zobrist in left IMO. He's too good to be in the outfield and I haven't been too impressed with Zo at 2nd. Hopefully Baez and Soler both continue to hit and create a problem for Joe.
If you could give Javy Zobrist's plate discipline, then you'd have a stew going. Zobrist has been bad defensively. He just is old and has no range. His arm is nowhere near Javy's. And he struggles turning double plays. He's just not good. The difference between him and Javy is enormous. Javy and Russell playing up the middle together is ridiculous. That being said, the difference between those two offensively is enormous, too. I hope Javy can hit and if he does, that would be awesome. Zobrist is good enough with the bat that I'm not too worried about his glove. He's just not good anymore defensively and we'll have to live with that. Maybe sticking him in left is the best route, but if Jorge keeps hitting then that becomes an issue, too. For now, Javy has to prove that he can control the strikeouts enough to be a useful player. If he does, then Joe can figure something out.
Yeah the Rockies are playing like the team to beat in the NL West this weekend. Kinda ridiculous and you just know they'll lose 7 of their next 10 after this series.
Frustrating game. Hopefully we can rebound tomorrow against STL. Got our bottom 3 in the rotation up against probably their 3 best.
Went to the game on Friday on a big impulse. I was working from home and decided to go to DryHop (just a brewery in Lakeview) for lunch. As I started to starting doing work again, I just went to Cubs.com and bought a ticket instead and decided a game by myself wouldn't be so bad. I need to always remind myself that I buy a 100 level ticket or bleachers because on days like this weekend, it is such a huge swing in temperature if you are in the shade or not. I am freezing under the overhang and those a section below are getting sun burns. Rant over but not the best series this weekend.
Pretty rare to lose a 2-0 game in which somebody has 2 homers. Betts did it in 15, Crawford and Harper in 13, and Berkman in 2010. That's it for this decade.
NilesIrish, I am going to be in South Bend on Monday, May 2 and Tuesday the 3rd. I plan on catching the South Bend Cubs games both nights. Let me know if you want to get a drink or something.
Nice, I'm down. I'll see if I can snag my company tickets and hook you up. I'll PM you a little closer to time.
I think the only thing Starlin was better than Addy at is catching fly balls. Starlin was great at making tough plays on balls in the air on the run. Also, Zobrist is excruciatingly slow at turning 2.
That's like the one thing Starlin was good at defensively. And he was amazing at it. Foul ball down the third base line and Starlin was absolutely tracking it down.
