Can't remember the last time we had a no-stress closer. I guess that one year of dominant closer Marmol
Such a warm feeling watching that HR go out. Must suck to go from "no hitter" territory & up 3 to giving up 5 runs and losing.
What a transition opportunity visa just provided with that video. Eloy walk-off HR into the tiki hut > go cubs go on steel drums
this team. Great comeback. J-Hey with a big hit, especially since he is a notorious slow starter and struggles against lefties. And what else can you say about that Russell bomb? Fucking awesome. Nice job by the pen tonight, too. That strike zone for Rondon was ridiculously generous. He might have gotten some help from Ross's pitch framing, but the zone that inning was still incredibly large. Rondon has looked great early on, though.
Oh... and I hate to bring this up after such a nice win, but was Zobrist using his wife's music as a walk-up song? I almost hope so
... I love that they play "Go Cubs Go" at South Bend, too. I am going to go see them later this month. I'm incredibly excited about seeing Eloy and Eddy Julio Martinez in person.
7 more walks tonight. That's 38 walks in 7 games. Our pitching staff has only surrendered 9. The patience from these guys is incredible.
I think so. He used to use it in Tamp Bay, too, apparently. Lame. He should have been forced to use Castro's song as part of his contract.
Fuck visiting clubhouse construction. They should keep the broom closet the way it is. Get used to it - lots of games left, and this team is fun to watch. Not going to miss many if I can help it.
Let me know when you're in town. Four Winds is an awesome little stadium especially when it's not 20 degrees. I'd gladly grab a beer, etc. I would suggest getting tickets at least a week in advance if you're looking at a Friday game or something, they get jammed when the weather turns. And yes "Go Cubs Go" is awesome, they also fly the "W" flag after wins, trying to become baby Wrigley. It's not up yet but the next development is "Little Wrigleyville" surrounding the place with restaurants and bars. I'm excited for that.
Rizzo using Starlin's walk-up music last night...so dreamy Plate discipline...so dreamy. By the end of the year, I'd really like to look at teams' records after a series vs the Cubs. It seems like their approach is just going to destroy bullpens all year long.
I'm not going to South Bend. I am gonna catch them in the Quad Cities. But, my sister goes to Notre Dame, so I am definitely planning on going to see them in South Bend at some point in the next couple of years. It sounds like a really good time there.
Gotcha, well if you're in the the area for an ND game or anything let me know. Always good with grabbing a beer.
This inning demonstrated why this team is going to be so good. The walks we draw put us in positions that good pitchers struggle to get out of and bad pitchers have no shot at getting out of.
I think what we're trying to say here is this team is good and fun to watch and we are all enjoying this collection of talent immensely.
