I’d be worried what that means. There’s not many top of the rotation arms available. If it’s a move for either of the diamondbacks guys it’s likely an overpay because they’re still in contention for a wild card position. I don’t think we’ll pay what Marlins want for Alcantara. That would leave someone like Elflin or Tyler Mahle, and neither is very exciting.
This seems like a move for depth and not elite arm... He said that it wouldn't be Alcantara or someone of that level. He said it would be a cost controlled guy. And they still want to add that elite arm later.
Screams Edward Cabrera I wish they just would’ve cut him but Pearson being gone is good. Interested to see how Fulmer does
Cabrera has elite stuff…d be on taking that chance…IDK what the Marlins long term plans are if they’re just considering trading literally anybody
I don’t think they have a plan, which is part of the reason why Ng left. But I’ve heard Cabrera’s name specifically thrown around a lot in rumors. The Score had a clip today that they do have an interest in Caissie
Caissie should be off limits in trades imho... Especially if you haven't or aren't planning on brining tucker back.
There’s a 9am bus from St. Louis to Iowa City tomorrow morning. Ben Brown should be on it. He can hitchhike or Uber the rest of the way.
The walks before the HRs are terrible. Not even mad at the HRs because they were on really good pitches. But he really needs to command the strike zone better. Way to many walks
No, and he’s not confident enough in his change up so he’s extremely limited in allowing free passes and being able to go deep in games because of it. If he’s getting taken out the rotation and I think they might be possible with this outing the organization has to make a decision on if they view him as a starter long term or a pen arm. If it’s starter I think you send him to Iowa. If it’s in the pen he goes to the pen. I think I’m of the mindset that he could start and I would send him down to work on control and developing a 3rd pitch. Then you call him up as a pen arm for the final month and playoffs
It’s a mental thing. He clearly has the ability to be a starter. He’s had 10 starts where he’s given up 3 runs or fewer and 8 of those have been two or fewer. And now he’s had five starts with 6 or more. He’s completely boom or bust. Either he’s completely on or he gets blown up. There’s no middle ground. That indicates something is mentally happening that is causing these games to slip away from him. Send him back to Iowa to try and get it figured out. Because if he can get the changeup figured out and what ever mental thing that is causing him to spiral, he’s probably a top of the rotation starter.
Let’s be honest, the rotation had over performed up to this point in the season considering they lost their number one and number two starters. There was bound to be some regression to the mean.
At the same time…the third base coach doesn’t have to be half way down the line telling the runner to go home. that’s weirdly common third base coach behavior, I’ve noticed.
He got cocky and thought he could make it standing. May have been safe had he not overrun the base. Either way… slide
The 3B coach went to far down the line and once he sent the runner ahead of PCA all his attention needs to be on PCA and should have been giving the down sign immediately. Also PCA should have a feeling that he’s not making it home and probably side, it also with his speed and no signs he’s probably thinking he’s safe no matter what.
Combo of bad coaching by Berry (again) and bad base running from Pete but it’s a moot point most likely since Dansby was due up with a runner in scoring position.
What the hell man This is going to be a very interesting corresponding move. I know rea has been pretty piss poor lately but it’d be risky to cut him and replace him with a guy who probably can’t pitch at the mlb level. Or there’s an injury we don’t know about. I guess the third option is they’re sending Cade down to monitor his innings, but that’d be super weird timing following a 7 inning shut out Edit I guess it could be hodge too
