the opposite, big donald glover guy he managed to talk for 6+ minutes and say absolutely nothing though
That matches up so incredibly well it wouldn’t surprise at all if it’s on purpose. Don’t think it is but definitely wouldn’t surprise me.
That aint it. Glover got no love because his early albums were awful (camp is really bad), his standup skits included weird shyt like having a fetish for his white GF to call him the n word, the tired token black jokes here and there, and above all a shtick for putting down other blacks for white approval/ being the community outcast. Thats the core reason. The one thing hes been good at since day 1 is acting and directing, Im not here to hate on DG (the guys in my avi) but this revisionist history is BS. Lets be clear. A lot of his early career had missteps. Even he would agree with that. And hes careful to distance himself from it now. From appearing on Girls, to rapping about being a token nerdy black, to even now catching flack for putting down black women on atlanta. Hes come a long way , especially in music. And is winning folks over now. but the culture rejected him in the early 2010s and for good reason. Blatant shucking and jiving wont win you black fans.
Oh people in here enjoyed camp? Was it the nasally delivery? The try hard lines? "No live shows because I can't find sponsors/ For the only black guy at a Sufjan concert." "Is there room in the game for a lame that rhymes/ And wears short shorts and tells jokes sometimes?" Yeah. Straight heat.
I liked Camp for what it was as an album, but agree that his shit after that has been much better. I think his inflection point as an artist was when he went over the All of The Lights beat.
Bino always had the flow but that punchline punchline punchline composition left a lot to be desired. I always viewed him as someone with great potential and he’s realized it
I’ll listen to his channel on Spotify and listen to some songs of Camp and enjoy it but it’s a very different sound
Yep, that sums it up perfectly. Shit, I didn't even know he did music until some of my white friends ( Community super fans ) talked about how amazing he was at rapping. Nah, nope. He was aight, but the punchline punchline, punchline shit was annoying. I do still listen to You See Me, tho.
I liked camp for the lulz of it all and his rhyme flow but I had no problems with people thinking he sucked because there isn’t one coherent song on that album. He grew leaps and bounds as a rapper on BTI but outside of about 4 or 5 songs, that album is absolute trash. (Although Telegraph Ave is one of my favorite songs) I was pretty excited to see where he’d go in his next big project as a rapper because I thought he was starting to put it together, instead he flipped shit and did something no one saw coming and it turned out better than I could have imagined with AML. Instead of honing his skills as a rapper, he’s taken a jump forward as a musical talent and as much as I wanted to see where he’d go with his rhymes, I’m ecstatic he’s doing what he’s doing.
That matches up so incredibly well it wouldn’t surprise at all if it’s on purpose. Don’t think it is but definitely wouldn’t surprise me.
Yeah, any sort of reworking of the video or meme-ifying of it should stop right away. And at least be kept out of this fanboy thread.
Its so bad yet it still cracks me up after I see ridiculous posts about the video somehow being too important to make silly videos about it.
Just bc like everything else they make you angry doesn't mean they suck. The call me maybe and hip to be squared are good for a laugh.
The call me maybe with the gun syncing up is pretty ridiculous. All it takes is to find the BPM and find other songs with the same.
