Yeah, it felt like watching Moonwalker again, even if it is more like Purple Rain since it has a realistic setting vs the fantasy of Moonwalker. I guess the 'big bad man' is what makes it feel more like MW.
Sometimes I forget the sweet mindfuck part in the middle of “Sober” and then I get good and stoned and it makes me feel feelings.
probably his 3rd best song ever. It'd get so much radio play if he released it next week. He is just infinitely more popular than he was 4 years ago. Also it was a huge pivot for him musically and creatively (unique music vid)
I just think telegraph ave is such a good song on so many levels. The idea that it’s him listening to Oakland by Loyd and putting his spin on it is pretty cool touch. Also, even though I think BTI is a pretty meh album in general, he really improved himself as a lyricist on that album greatly. He went from a guy who just stacked punchlines to putting together really cohesive verses and telegraph ave is a good example. It also showcases his singing ability. It’s honestly one of my favorite songs period
