Putting the wisdom of Yoda aside, I’m scratching my head this morning in disbelief. There can be absolutely no doubt in anyone’s mind that the performance of the UCLA Bruins against the Fresno State Bulldogs last night wasn’t just a step back. It was multiple steps back. Not only did the team look worse than it did against Oklahoma, it looked worse than it did against Cincinnati. The question is “How much worse?” By some measures, historically worse. As markybcool correctly pointed out in last night’s post-game article, UCLA is now 0-3 for the first time since 1971. I graduated from UCLA in 1994. Next month, I will celebrate my 47th birthday. The last time UCLA started 0-3, I was not born yet. But, wait! That’s not all! Rodgers actually lost the first four games of the 1971 season. If the Bruins cannot beat Colorado on the road after this week’s bye, Kelly will tie, and then probably surpass, Rodgers for the worst start since 1943. How bad was last night’s loss? Well, that depends. On one hand, UCLA lost to #24 Texas, 49-20, in 2011. The year before, the Bruins lost 35-0 to #25 Stanford. But to find a worse loss against an unranked team at home, you’ve got to go back to 2008. That’s when UCLA lost to an unranked Oregon State team, 34-6. There was so much wrong with last night’s game that I’m not sure where to even begin trying to dissect it.
In your opinion, would you say a lot or a little of UCLA’s future success hinges on how many points they allow and how many points they score? I’ll hang up and listen.
http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...aelan-phillips-soso-jamabo-season-concussions Just lost two 5* for the season. Out with concussions oddly. Jamabo got passed up on the depth chart, Phillips (the #1 recruit in the country in 2017) was pretty unproductive in his own right. Did they just quit?
Jamabo has been unproductive his whole time here. Philips has been great while he has played but he got hurt last year near the end of the season and was hurt at the start of this year. You’re dumb if you think he quit. Kelley is far and away our best back.
Just odd that they are both declared out for the season with concussions when UCLA could have a game in 11 weeks (late December bowl game). Jamabo has only played in 3 games this year too, is that right? Preserving his redshirt year? Looks like Phillips has now played in 4 though.
Soso maybe but I doubt Philips quit. Jamabo was suspended for the first 2-3 games and has barely played after that. Kelley being clear number one back with Allen, Bolo and the other freshman ahead of him it would be like quiting from the bench (if that’s what he did). Philips plays lights out every play so again I doubt he quit and he is a huge loss. When on the field he is usually clearly the best player on the field
I know you’re joking and I am not trying to spin anything because if someone like Philips quit, Chip’s tenure is done.
It’s pretty well know among students/alumni/fans. There is no way you’ve never heard it you probably just don’t know what it’s called
I've probably seen it but never really noticed it before, seems like your standard stuff that the cheer team does during commercials.
Who said it was anything more than a school cheer? It’s a school thing more than a “cheer thing”. It’s our version of “fight on” pretty sure Oregon has one like every other school does. Johnson was pretty much a scout team player last year. Starting to think chip is a Nike mole.
UCLA’s worst class since 2004. http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/school/_/id/26/class/2019
Hate to say this, but he’s fat and lazy. Took the job with the dimmest spotlight and is fleecing the program. Set up some of his old buddies with jobs and will move along in a few years when both he and UCLA are tired of each other. He would never get away with this recruiting approach at Florida or anywhere else, really. UCLA deserves better #Oregon Ducks
Starting to feel this way. It seemed like a too good to be true homerun hire hope it turns around because if it doesn’t it’s going to look like no matter what we do we won’t be able to win. Putting so much money into the program to not even be mediocre sucks. If this is what he is doing hopefully he never works again. Not sure why this makes you happy but I guess.
In order for Chip to succeed, he needed to bring in position coaches who would light the recruiting trail on fire... instead he brought in the same old Oregon coaches who are pushing 60 years old and cant open a snapchat. I also think he is fleecing the program. I mean fuck, he hired Don Pellum FFS
