We lost the old Nolan thread in the crash. We finally got some "news" on his next project - basically just a release date.
Has he done a nature movie? We have memory, dreams, space travel, hero, action, suspense. Im thinking man vs nature or a ghost story. Will watch no matter
Rumor is that he's going to direct the Akira trilogy http://moviepilot.com/posts/2015/09...ion-trilogy-3543946?lt_source=external,manual
Prestige Dark Knight Inception Batman Begins Interstellar Dark Knight Rises Been too long since I've seen Momento to rank
They're all interchangeable outside of Prestige for me, so I won't argue. TDKR is definitely the worst of his movies though
ITT, let's rank Nolan's films. Prestige Inception The Dark Knight Memento Interstellar Batman Begins The Dark Knight Rises Following Insomnia
Report: Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie Is A WWII Film Centered On The Evacuation Of Allied Troops From Dunkirk, France http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayl...n-of-allied-troops-in-dunkirk-france-20151226
I love Nolan's work and realize the Dunkirk affair involved a lot of heavy skirmishing, but a wartime movie about an organized retreat sounds boring af.
i'm guessing there will be a little more to it than that. it's not like he's making a documentary. plus it was a massive undertaking of an impossible task. lol at it being "organized"
The French, Belgians, and other allies heroically standing their ground against the full power of a war machine unlike anything the world had ever seen, saving 400,000 British troops and arguably Europe itself...? Nah, boring. It was an organized retreat in the sense that running away from a fucking pride of lions while your brothers and sisters turn around and fight them so you can survive is an organized retreat.
And please fix his speech while you're at it, Nolan. And, not to mention... The fucking NAZIS*, which is awesome in movie, documentary, picture, literary, and what ever other form we can put them in. *i don't like what they did
Don't care whose directing. I won't be going anywhere near this movie if it's a typical Hollywood white wash casting.
I like you, but if it is then you don't know jackshit about history... ... The French in WWI were incredible... They lost nearly 1.4 million soldiers (dead). Can you imagine that? Perspective: That is more than the United States lost in WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iraq II combined. 20 years later, they tapped out early, but before they did- the French and co. protected the British Expeditionary Force as it escaped annihilation... Ensuring that Europe had a chance at a future... The French being pussies is a myth that needs to be done away with- our oldest allies.
Yep, if the French didn't hold off the Germans at Dunkirk the British army would've been in rooins. I know Hitler didn't press too hard because he was afraid it was a trap, but the war could've gone completely the other way if Dunkirk had a different outcome.
Openly admitting how ignorant I have been about their sacrifice if that post is true. Holy shit, France. Thanks for that, plus the wine, cheese, and hot women. Regards.
Yeah, kinda related, the French were also instrumental in making sure the US's tenure as a country wasn't as short Trent Richardson's pro career.
Since my post contained two parts... WWI for France: -France had a population of approximately 40M -Military Deaths- 1.4M -Civilian Deaths (including famine/disease)- 300,000+ -France loses about 4.5% of it's population... Now, imagine the United States losing 4.5% of its population in a war... For comparison sake, in our worst war in history (The Civil War), the United States lost 2% of its population... About 1/3 total of what the French lost in WWI "The French are pussies" ^This derives from the fact that the French surrendered relatively quickly in World War II... So, France, Britain, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, etc. faced arguably the greatest military and tactical innovation in history... And, they weren't ready for it... And, oh yeah, France and Belgium had been obliterated just 20 years before the Germans invaded... Their entire country side, their armies, their industry... Bad shape... France and Belgium had no chance against the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe... None... And yet, in the one month or so that they as nations respectively were at war with Nazi Germany, they made one of the most important contributions in European history- Protecting the rears and flanks of the retreating British Expeditionary Force- Great Britain's standing army in continental Europe... A force of approximately 400,000 men (a little less) that would go on to fight and help free Africa and Europe... It's an awesome tale, which i'm sure my tendency to engage in hyperbole has made sound a little better than it actually was- IE: The retreating allies were aided by weather keeping the Luftwaffe out of the sky during the evacuation + Germany having to stop their attack for a time to regroup, reenforce, resupply, etc... But the French fought the Germans until the last man was evacuated... Beyond that- Of course, the Germans had their way with them, just as they had their way with EVERYONE in continental Europe, Africa, and the Soviet Union until General Winter stopped that machine... It's honestly not far off from the second Iraq war... France being Saddam Hussein facing the fucking United States of America 20 years after the United States obliterated their country. ALSO: I'm fairly confident 85%+ of Americans believe France surrendered quickly in WWI as well and the Untied States came in and bailed them out.
True, but our New England/New York brothers might be speaking French today if they weren't driven back by our lobsterback fathers 18 years earlier.
