There is a thread on dip, so let's have one on the finer part of tobacco. Post what you've tried or what you've recently bought. Favorites?

I bought a C.A.O. America for July 4th and a Gurkha Evil for who knows what. excited to try both of them.

    Relevent to my intrests.

Bought a cigar at a liqour store the other day just for kicks. It had horrible flavor- not sure of the brand/flavor. Gonna stop by here sometime this week for guidance. I'll let y'all know what I find out.

Enjoying one on special occasions is cool, but I've got a buddy who smokes them all the time and it smells like shit. :blech:

I'm not a smoker but if any of you are good beer fans, you should hit up a Flying Saucer if you ever have a chance. They sell cigars as well as have an amazing selection of brews (though I can't speak for the quality of their cigars because I don't know anything about them.)

Any recommendations for someone just getting into cigars?

I was given one from a friend that he picked up while living in Nicaragua (I don't remember any details of it) and it was a really relaxing experience. I don't think I'd ever make it an every day thing, but I could definitely see myself picking one up every now and then.

What kind of price range are we talking? And by natural do you mean mild-medium?

I don't have a real expansive knowledge of cigars, but in my experience the lighter colored cigars are more fair bodied with a lighter taste. also they smell lighter. the rest is just how much you want to spend.

Im a big fan of the Partagas 1845. I went into the cigar shop one day and picked up a random cigar and I rarely smoke anything different.
I did smoke a Cohiba this past christmas and it was pretty good as well.

You can get a 5pk of 5 Vegas Golds on cigarsinternational.com for under 20 bucks. Very good cigars and won't break the bank.

smoked the NUB Connecticut tonight. it was a really great smoke. it's a mild to medium taste. since it's short the time to smoke wasn't a problem. and it is a good price. i would recommend.

Anyone with Cuban experience have a good recommendation? I'm going cigar shopping in London tomorrow to pick up a few sticks. I'm already broke so I would prefer to not waste what little $ I have left on shit.

    To answer a few questions:

For newbies, I'd suggest a 5 Vegas, Rocky Patel Connecticut, or Greycliff G2. Pay attention to size as well, you can usually get the same cigar in any one of a half-dozen sizes, you don't want to accidentally wind up buying some Churchill size monsters for your first cigar. If you buy online, I'd suggest Cigars International for good deals (plus they do some thing where they'll send you a small, 10-15 cigar storage humidor with your first purchase there for free), you're probably talking only $2-3 per stick.

For more seasoned vets, my favorite right now is the Nica Libre 1990. Although, fair warning, this cigar is more likley to kick you in the nuts than it is to massage your balls (I mean that in....a...good way?...) Probably $3-4 a stick if you get the right deal. http://www.cigarsinternational.com/prodDisp.asp?item=CS-NLB

For the Cuban question, the biggest focus is buying from a reputable place and avoiding counterfit. Cohibas are one of the most counterfitted out there, avoid those. The few I've smoked have all been Montecristos and they've been great....basically an amazing draw and burn with a smooth yet mild taste that leaves you knocked on your ass. Montecristo cigars have two small circular dots on the wrapper. A quick and generally effective way to see if its counterfit is to compare the two small dots and make sure they are identical...same size, located on a level line apart from each other, both circular, etc. If one is slightly offset or bigger, its a fake. Heres an example of what it should look like.

My favorite lower priced cigar is Arturo Fuente. Also like the early 90's Rocky's. CAO is good, not that big into the Acids. Cohibas from the dominican are also good but I don't like paying 13-15 each.

The are a flavored cigar. Not like a strawberry swisher, but just different. Some are good and I'm not saying dont buy any, but dont buy a box unless you try one first. Women really like them

I smoked an acid once and I have never smoked a flavour.
To my knowledge they are different because the acids are infused flavor. Acids are just different

Also CAO is out of nashville , I got to take a private tour earlier in the year. Got pics if someone gives me an email, I can't host
