Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Sell me on Roger Johnson. I'm not impressed if Foster had to make the most saves in the EPL. Sounds like that back line was a turnstile.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** He always seemed to play well against us, but my only sales pitch is that he's not Mancienne or Berra.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Got all the seats torn up, most of the roof is gone, the front barriers are down, and now they're working their way through the stands. So cool to watch this develop.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Can't wait to see the finished product. You think we'll resign Milijas? Seems like O'Hara has the same, but better skillset as Nenad, but I don't think he has the same work ethic on the field.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** If Henry gets the boot and since Mujangi Bia is heading off to Standard Liege, I would hope so. We'd be down to 3 with Guedioura. Who knows.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Unless QPR overpay for him, we won't let go of Henry. We'll rate him more than his talent is worth because he is a captain, leader, and a fan favorite due to being a hometown boy. That being said, I still hope we resign Milijas unless we have a nailed down replacement in the works.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Andy Keogh, only realised he's been out on loan for the past while, seems he's back though for the time been.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** The Brum are having a serious laugh if they think Johnson is worth £14 mill. There's no way we'll go above £9 mill for him.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Nope, he's from Dublin plays for the Republic of Ireland. He played in last nights win versus Italy. Decent Overall player, doesn't score enough for a striker though. McCarthy likes him I think but I guess he'll be shipped elsewhere during the summer.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Haven't heard shit in weeks. The Stan Cullis stand is completely gone now. Shit is moving right along. The only two names I've heard us linked with are Roger Johnson and Lukman Haruna, a Nigerian international and midfielder for Monaco. No idea what's going on with Matt Upson. Heard we were hard after him and then the talk just died suddenly. Looks like we missed out on Keiren Westwood. I think he'll end up at Sunderland. Anything to add, NAT?
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** You taught me something on Haruna, which would be awesome because he was a cornerstone of my FIFA Wolves team. The other guys I've heard about was Youssef El Arabi, a Moroccan international striker, and Matt Mills, a centre half for Reading. El Arabi looks like he'd add serious skill to our striking force, but splashing that much cash only makes sense if we deal Doyle. I looked him up on youtube and the last 25 comments were from Wolves fans.
Re: *** :premiersmug: *** Haruna and 24 y/o Reading defender Matt Mills are both being talked about today. Do want both. Pissed that Roger Johnson has been outrageously overpriced.
Re: *** No News is... Good... No News *** Besides E&*, where are you getting your transfer info from, pre?
Re: *** No News is... Good... No News *** Not sure what that is that you posted, but I mostly use: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/transfer_centre/ Best source I've found for England. Occasionally check in to the Live Blog on Soccernet but they only discuss like 8 teams and let everything else trickle through like the glory whores that they are.
Re: *** No News is... Good... No News *** Haha. Sorry that might have been a stretched abbreviation for express and star. I've kept up with transfer center on sporting life, but Haruna must've slipped past me.
Re: *** No News is... Good... No News *** So apparently we are closing in on our first two signings, one of which is o'hara. The other is a secret, but not a center half. a Any guesses? I'm going with either Craig Gardner or a backup goalie.
Re: *** No News is... Good... No News *** So 5m for O'Hara. We apparently made a club record 7m bid for Roger Johnson and another 3m for Matt Mills. Birmingham is likely holding out for 10m, which just isn't going to happen. Mills has 1 year left on his Reading contract and they look like they're holding out too and could possibly resign him. A couple of sites are saying we're going to announce the signing of a Championship keeper as Henno's backup. Rule out Ben Foster and Robert Green, since they're better than Henno.
Re: *** No News is... Good... No News *** Mick wants competition for Elokobi and Ward. Chelsea have offered U21 England left back Ryan Bertrand for loan. Another possibility is Liverpool's Paul Konchesky. I'm really not concerned with who our keeper signing will be. Ikeme has been developing nicely, from what Mick has said, and everyone we're linked to seems to be an out-of-favor player in the Championship.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** On one hand, it's only two million for a guy who is a semi-decent premier league player... ...on the other two hands, it's Paul fucking Konchesky. Please be another bogus rumour.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** 2m isn't so bad. Still quite a bit by our standards, though. I guess if we're missing on every other target, I can deal with Konchesky. Can't be worse than van Damme.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** :knockonwood:, but sadly too good of a point. Still I was really liked the idea of Bertrand and instead we get that Bond-villain fuck.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** O'Hara deal is done. 5m and I am thrilled to have him permanently.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** Want Matt Mills so bad now. Think he resigns with Reading, though. E&* seems to be down for now but I know they've got a Wolves update for today.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** Completed move for Dorus De Vries on a Bosman free from Swansea. He wants to challenge Henno for the top spot. Swansea has entered the race for Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand. So he's still a possibility for us. Brum have lowered the asking price for Roger Johnson to 10m.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** NAT, who do you want to see in our starting lineup next season?
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** STARTING XI Hennessey Foley Zubar Mills Elokobi Henry (c) Guedeiora O'Hara Jarvis Hammill Doyle ATTACK MODE SUBS Hennessey Foley (c) Zubar Mills Elokobi Milijas O'Hara Kightly Jarvis Doyle Fletcher DEFEND MODE SUBS Hennessey Zubar Stearman Mills Elokobi Henry (c) Foley Milijas Jarvis Hunt Doyle
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** I like it. In the news: Could there be a possible loan move for Jonny Evans?? Oh shit I hope so.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** I could get behind that move. Keep Zubar at RB and see if Foley could challenge Elokobi at LB. would still rather have Bertrand though.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** Rumor going around that Arsene is ready to bid 11m for Doyle. I wouldn't accept. Mills wants out of Reading. Only problem is his contract year coming up. Don't want to win a 4m bid and have him walk after a season. Konchesky deal looks less and less likely. Thank god. I think we should just bid the 10m for Johnson before someone else does, and try to take Bertrand and Evans on loan. I hear Berra is almost a done deal to Rangers. We're also looking to offload Vokes, Keogh, and Maierhofer.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** I knew it was too quiet on the Doyle front. Keeping him shows we mean business when we say we want to be midtable. I'd love to see us splash the cash for RJ, but I'll be over here holding my breath. Good riddance to Berra, especially if it means Mills is Molineux bound.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** CB Steven Mouyokolo will be on a season-long loan to French side Sochaux with a view to a permanent deal. Matt Mills wants to move to Molineux, but doesn't want to rock the boat by submitting a transfer request. Leicester, Blackburn, and Stoke all seem to be targeting him as well. Wolves remain the main suitor as the only club that has submitted a bid. Rookie LB Scott Malone is set for a 3 month loan to Bournemouth, with an option to extend for the season. Finally, the foundation of the Stan Cullis stand is being laid. Demolition was swift and there are no signs of slowing down.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** Starting to feel cautiously optimistic about Mills, and loaning Mouyokolo only adds to the hope.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** A deal for Matt Mills could be done in the next week or so. Wolves have pulled the plug on their loan move for Ryan Bertrand, after finding out about his 500,000 wages. Instead, we could be after Hearts' LB Lee Wallace, widely regarded as the best LB in Scotland. He's only got a year left on his contract, so he'd be significantly cheaper than a loan move for Bertrand, or a deal for Konchesky. Could Arsene be lining up a 12m move for Kevin Doyle? Great news out of the Hawthorns, as Shay Given turned down a transfer to WBA. I'm very ok with him going to Villa instead.
Re: *** Pulling Money Out of Our Asses *** Love the news on Millsy and Wallace. Let's lock them up and solidify our defense. I'm strangely defiant in the face of a possible Doyle departure, especially to Arsenal. Wenger has to realize he needs goalscorers, and Doyle-o is basically a hetero Chamakh. If Arsenal are going to splash the cash, I doubt their first choice is Kevin. Edit: nevertheless, I hereby petition to change the thread title to 'Oh Please Don't Take, Our Doyle-O, Away'
Mills is a lost cause. Supposedly we never offered over 3m for him and Leicester was upping their own bid thinking there was another high bidder. So moving on, I hope we can bring in Wallace and get Brum to bring their price down on Roger Johnson. Swing by www.wolves.co.uk to see the latest pics of construction. The stand is coming along nicely. And there's galleries of the lads golfing. The skipper had some good words of wisdom about how we smartly buy players to keep everyone's wages in the same ballpark and avoid causing an anarchy. This club has some of the soundest financials in Europe and I'm thankful that they don't take gambles that could lead to the team falling apart and ending up back in League One. I think we're in a good, steady position to move into midtable in the next few years. I won't hold my breath for much more than that but I'm hoping somewhere down the road, we find ourselves going toe to toe with Europe contenders like Everton and Fulham. Maybe...
Brum have allegedly agreed to a fee approaching 7m for Roger Johnson. He was at Molineux today. That will be an enormous upgrade in central defense if it actually happens.
Wolves have been linked with former Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate and West Ham defenders Matt Upson and James Tomkins over the weekend. You must really want to get relegated if you sign Upson.
