Yeah, we have a pretty sweet house lined up about a mile away I've been in dialog with that would hit the very top of our price range but doable. The issue is getting enough people to commit 10 months in advance. I have pretty solid "ins" from 8 people willing to throw down a few hundred each to book it, but a little nervous to pull the trigger. Would probably need 15-16 people in the house, filling all the beds and couches, and don't know if its a shit show at that point.
House booked. Ended up getting a pretty solid 4 bedroom house about 2.5-3.0 miles away from the fest with a pool, hot tub, and nice backyard. Probably can't walk to/from the fest unless of an emergency (it's about a 50 minute walk) so will probably Uber or look into riding bikes there. Pretty pumped about the house and we got a good rate, plus I have 9 people that have already Venmoed me a payment so it's looking good. Coachella boards have some pretty good mock posters already. By August 2015, people were already getting some decently accurate fakes for 2016 fest.
Yeah, I'm thinking he'll be first sub-headliner on his day, but it's getting to the point where I wouldn't be shocked if he actually headlined. The one guy who had two near headliners on one day (Frank and Bon Iver) might be onto something Would be pretty surprised too if they just do Riot Fest, I'm thinking they'll be there unless Riot Fest ends up being a disaster or they sign a huge contract with Live Nation (Coachella's competitor)
If daft punk ever tours again it's hard to imagine them starting the tour anywhere besides coachella.
CTownND you seeing this "leak" of the headliners? Radiohead, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar. Wonder if it's true.
Seems like it makes sense. If I had to order probability of headliners right now, they'd probably be 3 of my top 5 along with Coldplay and Metallica. -Radiohead played two dates at the Shrine Hall (medium sized venue) in LA that were put on by Goldenvoice (Coachella promoter) in August; they'd have to hit LA again on a formal spring tour at Coachella makes sense -Kendrick getting his Coachella victory lap after doing Panorama and FYF for Goldenvoice this year is highly likely -Beyonce I guess would be the "surprise" headliner, but would also be a logical, hugely promoted show for her to end the Formation tour and she makes sense for the first big female pop star for Coachella The only odd thing to me is that even though its a great set of headliners IMO, it would be fairly predictable. 2016 had GnR/LCD reunions. 2015 booking of AC/DC was out of leftfield. 2014 surprise Outkast reunion, etc etc. There really hasn't been a "predictable" set of headliners without inside scoops in a while (if ever). Like I said, I'd be really stoked if it's real, but it's almost too easy to be real.
Best pop star, best rapper (maybe co- with Kanye), and best indie/alternative act currently going. I'd be fine with that. Sharing 2/3 with ACL isn't fantastic, but hard to complain when comparing to another festival. I'd take that over a lot of potential acts that will be touring next spring (Kings of Leon, Gaga, Coldplay, Lana Del Rey, Green Day, etc.). Wouldn't be a shocking "OMG" reunion or headliner, but I'd take them over this year probably.
Kendrick was amazing at OSL last year, he would put on a hell of a show...Beyonce would bring out even more chicks...radiohead is the only one i would pass on, but all personal preference with that.
Appears they made a mistake and accidentally put a countdown to 1/6 at 10 AM PST for ticket sales on their website. Would pretty much confirm lineup for sometime between next Tuesday and Thursday if that's true.
I wouldn't count on it. Rumor per someone connected with festival bookings on another forum is he/they are only accepting festival slots where they are a headliner and closing the main stage. I'd be a little surprised if Coachella gave him a headlining spot - but not shocked - especially since there are 3-5 pretty viable headliner rumors floating around (Beyonce, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and to a lesser extent Metallica and Swedish House Mafia reunion).
they gave us lcd soundsytem last year and they were broken up for the same time as SHM would be if they do coachella
i set up tweet notifications so as soon as they post it, I'll know. those headliners wouldn't surprise me at all though
