http://www.amazon.com/Ninja-Coffee-Stainless-Steel-Carafe/dp/B0160R1LEK New to coffee snobbery. Anyone have an opinion of this machine? Got it for christmas as a surprise. So far the coffee has been crazy good. I can now easily identify what good and bad coffee is. Never buying 8-oclock from walmart ever again. Jesus that was bad. Also bought a nice cheap mr. Coffee grinder. It does the job.
my aunt gave me her old chemex today. the box of filter papers has a copyright of 1971. fucker is huge. judging by the marks on a drip coffee maker carafe, it holds about 14 cups. any tips on using this thing? i've looked a bit and people seem to do everything by weight. what ratio do y'all use? also, what's the right grind for this thing?
Purchasing this this summer Breville BES980XL Oracle Espresso Machine, Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J19PT2K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_lP2HwbEHDHQM4
If I were you, I would get the regular breville DB machine without the grinder and then get a good grinder. It's an $800 increase for a subpar grinder and a touch of convenience/counter space. For $800 you can get a really nice grinder (which is as important if not more important than the machine anyway) and your coffee will be much better.
I found a place near me that grinds the beans for whatever application you want to use. Watched a few videos on YouTube. I'm using 6oz of water per ground tablespoon of coffee.
Been wanting one or the other recently as my new office has god awful coffee. Got the set up above at a white elephant Christmas party. Best gift ever
Had some of this at this really cunty hipster place in Greenville. Fucking delicious. Will kop. http://steadfast.coffee/products/rwanda-dukunde-kawa
Hate to be a cunt myself but the past two weeks in Scottsdale has murdered me for good third wave coffee. Miss NYC. Headed back this week thank God. /snobpost
Well yeah. Best coffee I've had. It's still funny that the dude wears an apron made of heavy duty canvas, leather straps, and thick brass hard wear to make a cup of coffee though
Truth. Problem is I'm up north of the 101 quite a ways with all the rich olds. They don't know that coffee life. Best I can do is this place called Press at the Quarter. It's sufficient. Whole Foods espresso bar isn't bad either.
I've been to Press, it's pretty good. I've also found most AJs have pretty good coffee and they know what they're doing.
GOAT grocer. Slammed some steaks last night on the grill. Update: tried Cartel. Was decent but Press was better. Will try Sip and some place called Maverick (which is new I guess) later.
been on a kicking horse coffee "kick ass dark roast" in a french press binge for a few weeks. pretty solid.
Used to do that with my french press all the time. Amazing. It'll kill you if you drink it straight though. Had a full cup down in like 2 minutes. Heart palpitations, sweating, coffee shits, etc. Would do again, love me some cold brew.
ok fellow coffee cunts, I need help upping my home pour over game. I'm finally going to put the V60 I got for Christmas 2014 to use. Watching online videos, it looks like I need a kettle. Thinking this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_2&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Anyone have it or can you recommend another? Also kind of like this one but it is more expensive: http://www.amazon.com/Bonavita-Variable-Temperature-Electric-Gooseneck/dp/B005YR0F40/ref=pd_sbs_79_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=51p5Rnb1U4L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160,160_&refRID=1KVE61PQ2415Y8FJ1MY7
My advice is to get electric. The alternative is painfully slow. People will say that you need a gooseneck, but I successfully do my pourovers with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0086...=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=Electric+kettle
we have one like that which my wife used to use for tea and oatmeal. I tried to do pour overs with it and failed miserably. I read some people use the kettle and pour into the goose neck but it seems like a lot of heat is lost in the transfer
I've never used a v60, so maybe ymmv. I use the kalita wave. I'm able to gently agitate the grounds, but it probably depends on the spout of the specific kettle. I will say that I used a non-electric for a while, and I eventually wanted to kill myself for waiting on it. Mine goes from ice cold to boiling in 2-3 minutes
hey French Pressers. . . is there any sort of secret to cleaning and maintaining your press? Lately my coffee has been tasting the same ( in a bland sense ) and I'm pretty sure its not the beans I'm using. Other than rinsing the press I haven't really cleaned or sanitized the device. Only other factor that I think could be hindering the taste is either my tap H2O or the Kettle I use to boil (stainless). I like my shit strong and flavorful and if I don't have a strong cup daily I get killer headaches.
Think I have posted it before, but if you are looking for a nice balance between french press and pourover, which is pretty fool proof and easier than either, try the Clever Coffee cone. Produces amazing coffee, you can vary all sorts of factors to change the flavor profile, and it is much closer to the Ron Popeil "set it and forget it" concept. Only cunty thing I do when using it is wet the grounds and let them bloom before adding the rest of the water. https://www.sweetmarias.com/product/clever-coffee-dripper-large
Just got the last piece (Le Creuset french press) in to complete our little "coffee station" in the kitchen. *ignore the keurig, its for non cunty guests*
I used the clever before I got the kalita wave. I can't really taste a difference. Both are easy, cheap, and produce great results.
I can speak for this kettle. http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CPK...d=1452200313&sr=8-1&keywords=cuisinart+kettle I love it and am always shocked at how fast it heats the water.
I like good coffee quite a bit, but I don't seem to be as cunty as many of you. My current coffeemaker, a Cuisinart DCC-1150, just seems to be producing weak flavor recently. I got it 6 years ago, so maybe it's failing. I use a burr grinder right before brewing, and use a Aeropress at work, but want something simpler for home. So with that said, is the Bonavita BV1900TS the way to go for automatic brewers? Seems like it gets great reviews and it's half the price of the Technivorm.
I just go one last month for my wedding and couldn't be happier with it. Produces some damn good coffee.
I put some kerrigold unsalted with some mtc oil in. The jokes I received from my coworkers were exceptional. Spoiler so I fired them all
If you want to fit in it is. I gave it a shot because I love kerrigold OP butter to begin with. You can definitely taste the difference.
Recently tried Illy at the request of my girlfriend, and I have to say it's pretty good stuff. She still fights me on an admittedly lesser concern, but my Le Creuset coffee mugs are far superior to hers (some Pottery Barn stuff).
Does your's not come apart by unscrewing the plunger from the press? My usual routine is to rinse-clean, and then when I run out of beans I take it apart and scrub with soap. If your's won't disassemble I'd recommend soaking it in saltwater overnight.
Ended up going with the OXO On Barista Brain 9-Cup. It's the newest member of the SCAA Certified Home Brewers. Pulse brews, and allows for a bloom. Hopefully it makes some good coffee.
put some fond and fat from cooking country ham in your coffee. then walk around drinking red eye gravy and feel all cunty about it.
yep. my great aunt uses this drip coffee pot from the 60s or 70's that they don't even make filters for anymore. but it's a damn good looking coffee maker. lots of stainless and just a very simple, handsome design. mr coffee needs to up their drip game.
