My favorite and easily the best local coffee roaster just redesigned their bags and have been posting on IG about their new look for weeks. Went in today and they've slyly dropped them from 12oz to 10oz, same price. Is that going to be a thing now?
In Chicago for business and blue bottle is across the street. Enjoy their espresso. Hayes valley. Picked up a bag as well. Worth it without shipping.
Sold a couple of burrs and a hand grinder to compensate for the fact that I ended up pre-ordering the xBloom Studio
Been enjoying the Little Waves sub, received this properly cunty bag today. Still can’t sort the pronunciation
Any recommendations for an espresso/coffee grinder? Fixing to move on from Nespresso pods and upgrade to a Gaggia Classic Evo Pro. TIA
Price? Electric or hand grinder? On the coffee side, are you wanting v60 or something like french press/drip?
Yes. Espresso grinder please. Looking at something for a few hundred dollars. Hand or electric- no preference. I read good things about Eureka Mignon Specialita, but would have to get one open box for something with that list price. Honestly, I am really new to this, so I really don’t know what to look for.
Well, he said espresso/coffee. I do both so it's possible. BigRed I'm a hand grind guy. You can get out much cheaper that way, offset by a little elbow grease. I'll let someone else chime in for electric, but here are my primaries: https://www.oehandgrinders.com/LIDO-3-_c_30.html https://1zpresso.coffee/j/ - I have the jx-pro for dual use, but I think they have an espresso centic grinder on Amazon that might be slightly better for you. Happy to go through the pros and cons of these if you decide to go down that road. They're very different, but both great
Yeah. Definitely more than their normal stuff but it was delicious. I did the 3 10oz bags direct from them and it was almost $110 shipped. That’s about 850g. I wouldn’t buy the 100g bags.
Tbf, if you have a standard pour over recipe, it ain’t that bad for ultra small batch / premium coffees. You can cup them all at 10g doses to really run a parallel taste test
I got the gummies (Nguisse Nare) and Bekele Kechara ones. It’s been a while since Danny roasted any new beans so excited for these ones!
He*. My man’s a one man operation roasting on a tiny ass roaster. I don’t know how he does it but he needs to scale up if demand continues to be this high.
Bought a lot of coffee in the last couple weeks, including geshas from each roaster -The Picky chemist, September,Terraform and H&S today. I've gotta stop. On aside note, the xBloom Pro has been fun to tweak around. Pretty solid pourovers and while it may not have produced a 10/10 cup yet, having consistency has been quite the positive. I don't think I'll be making any manual pourovers anytime soon
What does everyone do for water on the road? Don't have enough space for a regular kettle, so thinking through the options for aeropress only: Bonavita mini kettle Collapsible kettle (read that these impart silicone flavor) Heat water in microwave/coffee pot and transfer to aeropress Immersion heating element (have little kids around, so not sure I feel good about this)
I've had my eye on this for years and this is the best deal I've ever seen. Couldn't pass it up this time Technivorm Moccamaster KBGT 10-Cup Coffee Maker w/ Thermal Carafe (various colors, 79312) on sale for $232.46 https://slickdeals.net/f/17624016-t...-sheet&utm_source=mobile_web&utm_content=deal
At Cocoa Cinnamon, the little waves coffee shop, and they are speaking my language today. Edwin Norena special espresso and have one of his for pour over. Lady got a cortado cubano.
A lot of business trips coming up. Looking for local coffee shops so I can get some steps in early before meetings and try local shops / roasters. Newport RI first.
I made several shots with that watermelon one that I thought were wonderful. Then I tried theirs and I’ve got equipment Fomo. Smh
Newport has some cool spots - I am sure it's mobbed right now with summer vacations and such but glad you had a good experience there as well.
