we've already got our '19 pg, been told there's a minute chance he winds up at UNC if he reclassifies though
with jalek not looking likely to come back, next year is missing a pg. i know everyone thinks coby can handle it but he's more of an off ball guy to me. and i have zero faith in seventh
I've always viewed Coby more as a combo/2 also, Roy's explicitly saying he'll be a pg, but that could also just be out of necessity. I'd definitely feel more comfortable with another pg, hoping we can land someone in the grad transfer market again.
He’s most likely going to join the 18 class but will need to spend the summer in the classroom. Wonder if he will drag it out and see what happens at Georgia or say F it and want to get this over with quick.
Kansas's roster just opened up very nicely for Romeo Langford to come. I know Vandy or IU are considered leaders but the pitch is easy: You will start at SF for the #1 team in the country or stay home and miss the tourney at Indiana. I have no idea if he'll come to KU but why would he wait if he was going to Vandy or Indiana? Those rosters have been set for awhile.
It's not like Self told Langford he needs to wait until they get rid of someone, or that Vick would be blocking him from starting anyway. Nothing has really changed, except technicalities on kansas' side.
I mean, sure. But with both Newman and Vick are gone, it's a lot easier to sell a kid playing time since 4 of the 7 in last season's rotation are gone
Actually KU didn't even have an open scholarship until Vick left. We probably still dont get him, but it does open the door.
Right, but they're going to tell Langford to wait. They'll make room for him. It's not like "Oh we cant take the commitment until someone agrees to leave"
More likely Langford is smart and waited for all the cards to fall before making a decision. Not all of those cards involve KU tbqh.
Coach K's recruiting already taking a hit in the Post-Capel era. Will be interesting to see if it's a fluke or a trend, Duke was widely considered the favorite in Montgomery's recruitment.
Glad he didn't drag that out anymore, Duke probably just gets Carey to reclassify instead, unfortunately
Does he even get more than 20 min a game with washington, gabriel, skj, vanderbilt, and richards in that frontcourt? Seems like an odd decision from a kid who I'm sure thinks he is one and done.
Gabriel might leave to go pro overseas because his family is pretty hard up for money right now. Guess the paychecks aren't big enough for him anymore! Vanderbilt may go pro because his family is allegedly pressing him hard to do so.
so he started off by committing to kevin ollie, and now he is down to sean miller and patrick ewing? kid really sounds destined for greatness
appears to be a good deal of momentum for skj to unc would like him but next year’s team is gonna he really good so would prefer jordan brown.
He'll be a solid pickup. Despite showing good flashes here and there when he did play, he never could seem to get out of the dog house for whatever reason, even when better production at the 5 was needed.
with the year out he would give us 4 bigs in one class which is kind of gross roster construction but we’ll see
Also open to the public. He seems like a thoughtful kid that wouldn't hold a public announcement and pick KU. I could see Vanderbilt, but it seems likely to be IU given the public announcement.
Wish we would get him bc he is the likely missing piece to a serious title contender, but doesnt seem like its going to happen. Interesting to see what our plan B is.. probably a transfer
