He still wants to go pro but if he doesn't get good feedback from the NBA folks he may show up at Georgetown. His handler is located there. He's banking on a rule change that would allow him to play immediately if he stays in college.
We talking transfers? Mark Smith transferring from #Illinois Fighting Illini to #Missouri Tigers Pretty big because we have no young guards and helps w EJ Liddell in '19
Correct. Played with Deng Gak, who redshirted for us last year. Was a low-D1 prospect until his senior season but came on late and I think Villanova even offered. Wyoming was his first offer and he ended up there, but couldn't play due to migraines caused by the altitude.
Speaking of Ramey - Bold strategy for a new coach coming to a school that's under scrutiny for massive recruiting violations...
Get the impression that if he was going to choose KU or Vandy he would have done so at one of the events he was at the last 3 weeks or so (McDonalds, Jordan Brand, Hoop Summit) with other commits to those schools around plus not being at home disappointing the locals, not an open event at home the day after he wins Mr Basketball for the 2nd year in a row.
if Louisville were still in the mix, announcing at his HS would have me thinking maybe UL given that New Albany is right across the river but with KU/VU as the alternatives, he's gotta be IU bound Archie made him priority #1 and has recruited him harder than anyone over the past year. Hopefully that pays off
brandon williams has asked unc to recruit him multiple times and roy is comfortable with bum-ass seventh woods, a 4 star freshman and a combo guard freshman at point so he is passing we have a great roster next year outside of point guard but roy’s stubbornness is going to cost us
final composite top 10 for 247 1. rj barrett (duke) 2. cam reddish (duke) 3. nassir little (unc) 4. bol bol (oregon) 5. zion williamson (duke) 6. romeo langford (unsigned) 7. anfernee simons (nba) 8. quentin grimes (kansas) 9. ej montgomery (kentucky) 10. simisola shittu (vanderbilt) https://247sports.com/Season/2018-Basketball/CompositeRecruitRankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool
I still don't get why you think another true freshman would solve this *potential* problem as far as next year's squad goes. What does Brandon Williams do that Coby can't?
i still don’t think coby isn’t a point guard. williams is and looking ahead to 2019-2020 a sophomore williams would be beneficial to letting francis acclimate. hopefully i am wrong and seventh makes a jump or coby actually is a point and not just a scoring guard but i think pg is a problem for the next two years honestly.
Williams is a scoring guard too, they literally have the same skill set. I'm not saying I don't have concerns about the point, and I'd certainly welcome Brandon if Roy were to prioritize him, but he doesn't bring anything different to the table imo. I expect Coby will be around at least two years so not as concerned with '19-20, and if he's not then there was no reason for concern with this upcoming season.
Super stoked about Ewing getting out on the trail. Have a legit shot at Isiah Stewart who is now top 10 in the Rivals rankings. And the Irish kid Igiehon who jumped up to 5 star status. Just wish we’d stop looking at Anthony the pg. Heard he’s a major Duke lean.
Sounds like both Ashton hagans and Tyrese Maxey are going to reclassify to 2018 and go to Kentucky. When recently asked who he would like to play with in college, James Wiseman said both of Hagans and Maxey. I know a lot of time what these kids say is bullshit, just thought it was interesting. given he has repeatedly said he won't be reclassifying. Could he just be trolling folks?
Wiseman has to play 2 years if he reclassifies. Not sure about Maxey, but Hagans is moving back into his correct class age wise. Hell of a recruiting class if Cal gets those guys for the upcoming season. Would be like 7? five stars in one class.
Yeah I'm not expecting Wiseman to play in college this upcoming year. Just thought it was interesting.
I posted this in another thread but I am surprised maxey and Hagans want to reclassify and join what uk already has in the backcourt for next year. Hell i am surprised Calipari wants them all to come in 2018, seems like extreme overkill in the back court.
It makes sense when you consider the NBA is likely changing the one and done rule for the 2020 draft, which is when they would be entering the draft under the current rules if they don't reclassify.
He did. Highest ranked recruit from IN to not leave the state since? Eric Gordon? Jared Jefferies? It's been a long fucking time for sure
Hard to complain about a kid staying home. He can have Trae Young style free range for IU next year and be an in state hero.
Would have been a riot to see Langford commit elsewhere when they were expecting like 5,000 people at his announcement.
Yeah, probably a literal riot. Kids decision also isnt as important when he is only going to spend 8 months on campus.
This night will be remembered on popcorn boxes and paintings for years! Top three biggest IU basketball days in the last 20 years.
Well, KUs 247 guy Crystal ball'd him to Kansas like 2-3 weeks ago. Wasn't a dig, just sharing the info since there was a lot of speculation the last few months with all schools involved.
Joey Baker reclassifies to join Duke's 2018 recruiting class. So now 4 of Duke's 5 best players are small forwards.
He'll have a "back injury" and let an assistant be the fall man before he ever sits thru a really bad season.
Titus made a great point on his podcast, has anyone ever met anyone in real life who reclassified in high school that wasn't a basketball player? I get prep school adds some complexity but I knew like two kids in high school that graduated early and they did one semester.
my high school offered a bunch of work experience and college credit opportunities that basically served as kids being done with high school stuff at the start of their senior year but they didn’t officially graduate early or anything like that to my knowledge
