I'm assuming that was to protect the #1 overall Denver from having to play a "road game" against a team that wasn't the last one in the tournament.
Ohio State owes Penn St. some gratitude for knocking off and knocking Bucky out of the tournament. UND was in a similar situation a few years ago where we need Wisconsin to win a game to get us in the tournament. Wisconsin won and then we showed them our thanks by knocking them out of the tourney.
The only flip they did from the true draw was to flip Cornell and Air Force...everyone else is playing their natural draw based on the final pairwise.
That would be a championship game that would bust a lot of brackets. I didn't realize it until I read my twitter feed after the game but the PSU win both put OSU in the final at-large spot and gave Minnesota the last #1 seed. If Wisconsin won we would have been the #6 seed behind UML and W Michigan. In essence it was Wisconsin vs. the rest of the [still relevant] B1G.
Not gonna lie. With the west regional being here in Fargo it hasn't been the most productive work week.
On paper that looks like the most interesting regional. Ohio State is inconsistent and takes too many penalties but they're an explosive offensive team that is really dangerous in a one game setting. I have UMD beating them but there could be some fireworks. UND/BU should be interesting. For context, Minnesota gave up 5.25 goals per game in 4 games against OSU. We gave up 2.3 goals per game in the rest of our B1G games.
It is what it is but that certainly doesn't seem like indisputable evidence to me if it takes 10 minutes to review? Also, not sure if still reads this way in the rulebook but it used to say offsides is reviewable if it leads directly to a goal...we entered the zone and cycled and zipped the puck around and kept it in the zone for 90-120 seconds before actually scoring. Scheels arena was rocking and I feel bad about leaving and returning to my couch to watch hockey and hoops but fighting a nasty cold as well. Took a further peek at the numbers from this game and it is astonishing we lost or got beat but props to BU for persevering through the onslaught and scoring a pretty skilled play to win it. Summary of the game and our season Faceoffs 62-42 UND Shot attempts 145-67 UND Pipes hit 2-1 UND Shots on goal 59-29 UND Blocked shots 51-18 BU including 17 by Brandon Hickey....mad props to that kid, someone draw an ice bath and wake him in the morning. Rooting for Air Force now that WMU is out. Would normally cheer for conference mate UMD but after their team and fans antics last weekend and watching their fans act like they won the national title today when we lost I just can't do it. I normally couldn't cheer for DU since they are a big rival and don't want them to catch us at 8 nattys but with Montgomery behind their bench and with how classy of a guy he is it wouldn't kill me if they won it. Can't cheer for Miinesota under any circumstance(sorry Rabid). I wouldn't mind Penn State making a run to frozen 4 as it would be good for college hockey and I like their coach and the way they play.
Fuck me, that was the winner. Great game, awesome that we're easily going toe to toe with a program like this.
JC , did you end up going? Think me, him, and buckwild are the only 3 that give a shit about this game.
Goalie had 2 miracle stick saves and a post, have their first good shift in 20+ minutes and they score. Fuck em.
I was there....fuck ass fuck ass fuck Only good thing was that the piece of shit program that is UND lost. Fuck those guys.
B1G hockey fans - is it too late to back out of the Notre Dame deal? Competitively it does not look like a value add.
Did anyone else hear Melrose say Brad Pitt should star as Hobey Baker in a movie about his time at Princeton? Barry, Pitt's 53.
