I turned it on as we went on the penalty kill. PSU quickly converted to make it 2-0 then we took two more penalties including a 5-minute major. I should have just turned to the Clemson v. Syracuse game. Nice early season win for Penn State.
Well I will be at the games but if you live in the Twin Cities, stay tuned as I hear FSN is working on a deal to be able to Simulcast the games.
Great atmosphere at The Ralph in Grand Forks last weekend! On Friday night in a repeat of the last time the two teams met UND completely dominated the game in every area(35-18 shots on goal and total shot attempts were 78-33 in UND's favor) except the one that really counts in the end and that was on the scoreboard as Schierhorn was pretty good in goal and the Gophers went all in and blocked 29 shots and Pitlick scored on a semi breakaway created by 2 great quick passes and Johnson ripped a nice shot on a late developing 3 on 2 on a nice pass from Pitlick as the Gophers took advantage of the few grade A chances they had. Saturday night was a more closely contested game and the Gophers played much better than they did on Friday night but UND cashed in 3 times on a 5 minute power play to go up 4-0 early in the second really kept Minnesota from getting many great opportunities the rest of the way. Minnesota has some pretty talented high end forwards but they are a little weak as far as depth on D. UND has a great, talented D corps but is really missing the early departures the last couple years at forward(Jost, Boeser, and Nick Schmaltz are all in the NHL right now instead of still playing at UND). UND probably has 11 forwards who would be 2nd line for most teams in the country but doesn't really have the high end finishers this year.
If anybody wants to laugh at spliced clips of a homer announcer from last weekend this is great. http://www.gopherpucklive.com/wally-shaver-what-the-hell/ Each clip builds as he gets more angry/excited.
so stoked for the next few days: Friday: Denver @ BU (a five minute walk from my place ) Saturday: UMass Lowell @ Northeastern and then 11/4 and 11/10 BU and NU play a home-and-home
DU with a 4-3 W at BU. Pioneers led 3-2 after the 1st period and then a BU goal tied it with 6+ left in the 3rd. But DU scored with 16 seconds left to secure the victory. That Borgstrom kid is really impressive. He's got a nice frame Brady Tkachuk is a monster. He's a freshman people should probably be watching did not realize BU has won five national titles. Was cool seeing those banners
Northeastern's Dylan Sikura named Hockey East player of the month. He was recently added to the Team Canada roster for the Karjala Cup and will miss NU's upcoming games with BU and UMass-Lowell. That'll be a big blow for the Huskies Mark Coyle wrote something on the broadcast issues with the UND games http://www.gophersports.com/genrel/103117aaa.html
Yale with a big 5-2 W at Harvard tonight. Easily the most physical game I've seen this year Need to see a game at BC to complete the Beanpot tour
Notre Dame notched it's first B1G victory as a conference member over Ohio State University. buckwild was there and can confirm that the Value City Arena emptied out early.
Looks like he might have a little Ron Hextall or Billy Smith in him. https://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/...ion-disqualification-eemeli-rasanen-middleton
6-1 W for the Huskies without Sikura. They good The win moves the Huskies to 4-0-0 in Hockey East play for the first time since 2008, and gives Northeastern its first conference sweep of the Terriers since the 1988-89 season.
I put my son to bed right after we scored to go up 4-0. When I got back 10-15 minutes later it was 5-3. Lots of offense. Our first shoot-out win in the B1G which is sort of ridiculous for a 5 year old league.
seeing BC play tonight last night Northeastern scored two goals in the final 8 minutes to beat Vermont 2-1. Snapped a five game losing streak to UVM. NU moves to 5-1-0 in Hockey East for the first time since the 1985-86 season.
PSU gave ASU the pipe last night. The games are being played at Gila River Arena. They have curtained off most of the upper deck and an entire side of the arena is closed. It's quite a sight.
A nice quality road win for UND at #1 Denver last night! 15 minutes into the game UND is down 2-0 and being outshot 21-2 and DU is just peppering our freshmen backup goalie as our starter is still out with injury. UND finally starts to turn the momentum a little bit at end of first and start of second and then DU gets a shorty to go ahead 3-0 Midway through the second. UND gets 2 in the 2nd to cut it to 2-3 and then 2 more in the 3rd to go ahead, DU ties it at 4 and UND scores with about 3 minutes to go and hangs on to win...great game to watch.
Is there video of your goalie punching the guy in the nuts? I saw tweets but you never know how much exaggeration there is.
There was a scrum in front of the net in last seconds after they took 6 or 7 hacks at the puck which was covered and had been blown dead. Didn't think much when I saw it live but on replay he hit him pretty good in the midsection. Couldn't get the sweep tonight though...UND wasn't able to take advantage of the 48 seconds we were on the power play while DU cashed in a couple times during their 19 minutes of having a man advantage.
Gophers split ou home/home with #1 St. Cloud. We're 11-2 at home and 1-8-1 on the road. Thanks for the 1 road win UND.
5 of 7 Big 10 teams in the top 20 and 7 of 8 NCHC teams in the top 20 and the 8th is getting votes. And 2 WCHA teams in top 20 with 3 other receiving votes. "Western" leagues looking pretty strong right now. Essentially occupying 14 of top 20 and 19 of top 30 spots right now. Big 10 is 10-3-2 against ECAC, 7-0-1 against Hockey East, and 10-5-0 against WCHA. NCHC is 8-5-5 against ECAC, 14-7-1 against Hockey East, and 14-3-4 against WCHA. NCHC is 7-2-2 vs. Big 10.
I’m pretty sure this is the first week an NCHC team wasn’t atop the rankings this year. I thought I had to have some fun with it.
If the season ended today. Sioux Falls, SD SCSU(1) vs. Canisius(26) UND(8) vs. Minnesota(9) Bridgeport, CT Notre Dame(2) vs. Boston College(20) Mankato St(7). vs. WMU(10) Allentown, PA Clarkson(3) vs. Neb-Omaha(14) Denver(6) vs. Penn St.(12) Worcester, MA Cornell(4) vs. Northeastern(13) Ohio St.(5) vs. Providence(11) UMD and Miami are bumped from 15th and 16th spots for auto qualifiers(team currently leading conference) 17. Bowling Green 18. Maine 19. Wisconsin 21. Colorado College The regional in Sioux Falls will be crazy if SCSU, Minnesota, and UND are all there! Got hooked up in a Suite for the weekend!
Northeastern's 6-1 win over Bentley on Saturday marked just the eighth time in team history that the Huskies have recorded at least 12 wins through their first 20 games, and first time since 2008-09 Adam Gaudette Huskies are so good on offense
