you think Northeastern would've been in the tournament? Or would the Hockey East championship have determined that?
Pretty sure they would have had to win the Hockey East Tournament to make the tournament as they were sitting at #19 in the pairwise when everything stopped.
https://247sports.com/college/minne...key-is-there-for-the-taking-148646884/?page=1 Rumors on Minnesota board about North Dakota going to B1G as affiliate member, also mentions Minnesota Duluth as being looked at. Denver would make a lot of sense too.
If Illinois isn't going start a program, maybe ASU, UND, DU to get 10. Beyond adding two power house programs your adding two huge fast growing markets(Phoenix and Denver) with huge B1G alumni/fan bases.
I am the same way with Denver, there are massive B1G alumni groups and fan bases in phoenix and Denver. Games would draw incredibly well.
I would be very surprised to see ASU added. There is no financial benefit but plenty of costs and hassle with travel.
Considering college hockey mostly travels commercial I dont think there's much cost difference between traveling from Minneapolis to phoenix than Minneapolis to Detroit. Hell considering asu is 5 mins from major airport id guess that road trip is actually cheaper than some current b1g trips.
Way to many people pay attention to distance rather than travel volumes between cities and airport size when looking at the cost of airline travel. As someone who travels a fuck ton for work, its way more expensive for me to go to Omaha or Kansas City from Denver than to Detroit, Washington DC, or New York. Phoenix and Denver are such big airports that they are easy and affordable flights from most b1g areas.
UND vs. Penn State in Nashville has been postponed from Oct. 17, 2020 to Oct. 30, 2021 Anything to do in Nashville over Halloween?
Nashville is always a fun city to visit regardless of the time of year https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/nashville-thread-now-with-info-in-the-op.120296/
Sounds pretty official now based on this and comments from Mel Pearson today about a commitment that hasn't been announced yet but they were very excited about. Pleas let there be a season because Michigans class is unbelievable. New England Hockey Journal @NEHockeyJournal Hingham, Mass., native Matt Beniers, a late ’02 projected to be a top-10 pick in the 2021 NHL draft, is expected to decommit from Harvard and instead skate for the University of Michigan.
Going be a lot of nhl scouts at Michigan Notre Dame games in the coming years. Absurd amount of talent is coming to both those programs and the b1g in general. Not that its shocking but the b1g seems to be taking over recruiting.
Looking forward to watching the draft tonight. Should be 7-8 UND kids getting drafted over next 2 days. Tyler Kleven whose Father is one of my best friends is slated to go sometime in the second round with a chance of being taken late in first round depending on how it shakes out.
NCHC is starting season in December with a Pod which will bring all 8 teams to Omaha for 3 weeks. They divided the conference with UND, Denver, Colorado College, and UNO in one division and UMD, Miami, SCSU, and WMU in the other division. Everyone will play 10 games while in Omaha. They will play 2 games each against the other division and 2 games against one of the teams in their own division. The post Christmas schedule will consist on 8 home games and 8 road games against the teams in your division, so you will play 3 teams 6 times and the other 4 teams twice. There will be a few bye weeks mixed in and some will likely be 3 game sets. Going to be interesting season and post season with no pairwise to use for determining the field. I am guessing the NCAA tournament will include every conferences tournament champion and regular season champion which could be the same team but that will mean the number of at large spots to the tournament could be as few as 4 and as many as the normal 10.
There is talk hockey Canada might start their bubble in late November. So Michigan could lose Johnson and Power for six weeks.
Who knows if asu is the Minnesota football this year but my god Michigan looked incredible this weekend.
