Faber is very good, fun player. Ranta was a nuisance all night, his tying goal was a trash goal to give up though considering the circumstances. D started panicking in the 3rd under the forecheck just trying to play prevent D and clear the puck without looking which led to icings and interceptions.
Northeastern women with a 5-1 W over Robert Morris last night. Minnesota Duluth on tap for Thursday in Erie. Huskies are 21-1-1 and have outscored their opponents 100-17
UND vs. SCSU tonight for NCHC title. Both teams are in the NCAA tournament. UND will be a 1 seed. SCSU will be a 2 seed. Minnesota vs. Wisconsin for the B10 title. Both teams are in the NCAA tournament. Winner probably gets a 1 seed and loser is likely the top 2 seed. Going to be interesting to see how the Committee lays out the National Tournament this year. 7 of top 10 teams and arguably 6 of the top 7 are in the Western Conferences(NCHC, B10, and WCHA). BC and UND will likely be the top 2 overall seeds and if Mankato wins the WCHA they will be #3 or #4 overall I would guess. If Minnesota wins tonight they could be #3 and if Wisconsin wins I think they are #4...Loser of B10 title game is likely #5. If Mankato loses, Minnesota loses and SCSU wins the NCHC I have no idea how 3-6 overall will shake out. Michigan, Boston U, Massachusetts, and UMD will fill out the 2 seeds and top 2 3 seeds. Quinnipiac is probably the 11th team that is a lock and should win their tournament. A.I.C. is probably a 4 seed and hopefully they win their tournament as i think they will put them in either way. Army, Canisius, Niagara, St. Lawrence, Colgate, and Northern Michigan have to win their conference tournaments to get in. Army and Canisius have records over .500 but I don't think they would be in the hunt for at large spots. Providence and Mass-Lowell as well as Bemidji St. and LSSU all have a chance to win their way in through their conference tournament and are at least under discussion if they don't. Nebraska-Omaha, Notre Dame, Bowling Green, Michigan Tech, and Northeastern would be in the discussion. If they waive the .500 rule this year that would put Penn State, Denver, and Western Michigan in the mix as well. Knowing how the NCAA operates I am expecting UND, Minnesota(if they lose tonight), and UMD to all be in Fargo
Petey isn't so bad. He admitted that penn state didn't ruin college hockey and the b1g is the premier conference
I want to use my southwest credits from cancelled wrestling nationals last year on this, but they're not booking past August
The Gophers second period reminded me of the Badgers barrage in that second game. The 3rd period managed to scare the hell out of me.
I’m claiming this righted the wrong of deciding the B1G regular season champ with “winning percentage” instead of points percentage. It likely puts Gophers on the 1 line and sends Wisconsin to Fargo.
Come from behind overtime win over Denver on Monday and come from behind win against St. Cloud last night to become the first team in the 8 year history of the NCHC to win both the regular season and tournament titles in the same season. Hopefully we can get a couple guys back in the lineup before regionals, especially Jacob Bernard-Docker at D.
Northeastern women with a 3-2 OT win over Minnesota Duluth!! Huskies scored twice in the third period. Didn't get any points from Alina Mueller or Chloe Aurard who are the best offensive players on the roster (and a couple future international superstars)
Is Sanderson coming back next year or will he turn pro? Word is JBD and Pinto will fly to Ottawa right after their last game.
I 100% expect JBD to sign some time after April 11th. He is dealing with some concussion issues I believe so I hope he is able to play next Friday. Pinto, I would put at 75-80% to sign as well. He has such a complete 200 foot game...offensively talented, great on faceoffs and he also was voted the best defensive forward in the conference as well. I think and hope Sanderson will be back as he is young, hasn't turned 19 yet, and has referenced next season in a few interviews...He has been solid all season but the last few weeks as his confidence has grown he is starting to do things that just leave you shaking your head trying to figure out how did that? I was pretty confident we were going to hang #9 last year so hopefully they can get it done this year. Of course if we had won it last year, JBD, Kierstad, and Kawaguchi probably would likely not be in college this year.
Sens are expecting JBD and Pinto to sign. The belief was always Sanderson would stay for his soph year. But as you said he seems to have elevated his game and maybe he feels he can compete at the best level. If he can step in right away to Ottawa’s lineup great but if the plan is to play him in the A he is better off staying in ncaa. How strong will UND be next year?
Good question. Should be solid on the backend with what is coming back and what we are bringing in. Hopefully Scheel stays for his 4th year in goal and ideally Thome would take the extra year available either way. We lose quite a bit up front with Kawaguchi, Adams, Mishmash, and probably Pinto. We have a few guys that can score like Gaber and Weatherby and hope those two along with Budy, Caulfield, and Hain keep improving and are able to add some offense. I look at the forwards we are bringing in as depth guys but I have been surprised before. With the extra year being offered I think the transfer portal could be interesting to watch.
Blind shot from behind the net, Frankel never saw it coming. Think Watts ricocheted it off a defender's back. May not be the prettiest way to win it, feel for Frankel. Played her heart out with her team.
well a unique thing about Northeastern is it's a five-year school so that whole team should be back to put up crazy offensive numbers again
My guess at bracket 1. North Dakota 2. Minnesota 3. BC 4. Wisconsin 5. UMass 6. Minnesota State 7. Michigan 8. SCSU 9. Duluth 10. BU 11. Lake Superior 12. Quinnipiac 13. Denver 14. Providence 15. AIC 16. SLU Fargo 1. ND vs SLU 2. SCSU vs Lake Superior Loveland 1. Minnesota vs Denver 2. Michigan vs Duluth Albany 1. Wisconsin vs Providence 2. Minnesota State vs BU Bridgeport 1. BC vs AIC 2. UMass vs Qunnipiac I have like zero bracket integrity here so this is shit I’m sure
CC is looking for a new coach. It’s good timing since they are moving into that new stadium next season. There is just no reason for CC to be as bad as they have been lately, so hopefully they make a splashy hire. I’m curious if Monty or Hakstol are options.
