Nice weekend for The Mavs against my UND squad. Played hard and with desperation and UND didn't seem to match the intensity. I think the winner of UNO and CC series this weekend will be in a good spot, if it goes 3 they are probably both in a good spot. Need to stay in top 14 with Atlantic Hockey and CCHA taking 2 spots outside the top 16. As was pointed out, you want Quinnipiac to win the ECAC and BC, BU, or Maine to win Hockey East. Need Ohio State to bow out and no huge surprises in NCHC(UMD or Miami) so no other spots disappear.
They were a preseason top 15 team but they couldn’t get out of their own way. Really have rounded into form.
Quinnipiac losing in the ECAC semifinals really fucked UMass or CC. The field is basically set now aside from the last spot and the math between UMass and CC is insanely close.
This atmosphere is crazy at Munn. What’s up with the Michigan coach leaving bench before end of period? Seems like a hot head.
Hoping UND can come out of the Missuri region. Have not been playing consistent down the stretch but I like our chances to pick up a GLI title on our way to St. Paul. We can put it next to the Beanpot we picked up back in 2005.
More than you know. Probably similar to how Michigan felt in 97 when they got clipped by Boston U. I remember talking to Barry Melrose the next morning as he was enjoying a Cigar out side the Embassy Suites and he said Michigan played 60 minutes to not lose and got away with it, if they played 10 times Michigan would probably win one and unfortunately for you guys that one was last night.
Screw the NCAA graphic that can’t be bothered to include seeds beyond the top 4 Providence region pairs the #1 seed with explosive offense with a #2 & 3 that tend toward more defensive styles. Wisconsin has been off a long time and hasn’t been playing well so I assume BC beats Quinnipiac to move on. Maryland Heights has tickets approaching $1000 on the secondary market. Michigan vs NDSU is interesting. Michigan has as much talent as anybody but can be prone to a lack of discipline both in penalties and structure. But when they’re engaged and maintain their structure, like they did at Minnesota a couple weeks ago, they are a tough out. It’s funny that it could be UM vs MSU in back-to-back weeks. I’ve seen that before, the rematch against UND didn’t go our way. I kind of feel like that may happen. Sioux Falls feels like punishment for BU where we are likely to see a lot of Minnesota & Omaha fans. As a proponent of moving regions to campus, I’d love to see an a team from the East fall in a de facto road game (since those are the coaches against moving to campus sites). BU probably comes out of the region but I hope not. I assume DU in the other but I haven’t seen much of any of them.
Par for the course for the NCAA. They also had UND playing in the FCS semifinals this year instead of NDSU. Probably the 15-20th time they have crossed up the schools over the years.
BC gets up early but Tech responds with a shorty for a 1-1 game at 1st intermission. The way it started I thought BC may get 5 goals in the first and just end it. Some good games but only 1 upset yesterday with Cornell over Maine. It would be nice to see a big one today I love that Michigan vs UND is the prime time game tonight.
It was tight. We got outplayed badly in the first period. Then we had the edge in periods 2-3. We mostly took advantage of screw ups. 39-36 shot advantage after being down by like 20 shots after the 5 minute PP early in the 2nd. I feel like we played our best hockey in February. We haven’t looked as good since the Friday night of the Michigan series (March 1). We are usually good for 1 game per weekend so hopefully it’s Saturday.
Could have been down 3 or 4 between all the posts and the major, only giving up the 1. Capitalizing on a blown tire to win the game. But you have to take advantage in this stupid, random tournament and Minnesota did that
I don’t know what the announcers were looking at. I thought that was pretty clear game DQ. Vs Chesley last night.
Michigan Tech has played a good game but there are moments when it’s obvious how much faster and more skilled BC is. They just chased down a puck and it looked like Tech’s skates were in cement.
