I feel like MSU & DU got tough draws for the first round. It’s a good sign where college hockey is as well as the limited number of upsets in conference tournament championships.
Pretty terrible. Defense even had numbers as Sparty entered the zone. 3 defenders followed the puck and ignored the front of the net. It’s crazy what speed will do. Defense loses their mind because they’re afraid of their teammate getting beat. Editing to add:
it was like the Western Michigan fuckup they killed a penalty then did a full long line change then easy stretch pass broke them open bad coaching
Tough one. Was on edge but felt like we were doing what it was going to take to win the game and then Michigan got the 2nd goal after the whiffed shot off our ex Michigan defenseman's skate and it took us too long to get back to have a positive shift and Michigan was just flying through the neutral zone at will for 8-9 minutes before we put a couple shifts together. Michigan is just dripping with talent and when they dial up the intensity they are nasty. Sorry I can't root for them the rest of the way though.....can't have you getting #10 before we get #9.
No worries, y'all were the better team for much of the early/mid portion of the game. We finally stopped trying to be cute and started getting pucks on net. Playoff hockey is won with ugly goals, being a smaller, skilled team we sometimes struggle with that. Seemed like Naruto was spinning when y'all were controlling the game, threw the lines in a blender and went to Hero line of McGroarty-Nazar-Brindley to try and get something going. But it was actually the depth guys that carried us home, the hero line didn't do much.
Can’t believe it’s been over a decade since some of the blue bloods like BC, BU, Minnesota, etc have won a title.
21 years for us since we won them back-to-back. We’ve lost at least 2 championship games in that timeframe. Union and Quinnipiac…
